Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To modify a cup container made of a fiber-based material such as packaging board, allowing the lid to be reliably heat-sealed to the mouth of the cup without jeopardizing the product to be contained.SOLUTION: The invention relates to a cup container made of a fiber-based material, such as polymer-coated packaging board, comprising a cup 1 containing a contained product 2 and a lid 6 closing the mouth of the cup. The cup 1 has a collar 5 bent downwardly from the mouth of the cup and diverging from the cup skirt 3, and the lid 6 has a rim 8 oriented accordingly downwardly from the collar, the lid being fixed in position by heat-sealing between the collar and rim parts. For opening the container, the lid 6 can be equipped with a tear strip 11 surrounding its rim 8. In addition, the lid 6 may be nested with the cup 1, so that compression and friction between their opposite surfaces retain the lid in position in the reclosed container.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and equipment for moulding an article (1) produced from paperboard or cardboard. Moulding is carried out by means of a moulding tool (2) that mechanically works the board; and to improve its mouldability, momentary irradiation (9) on the microwave frequency is exerted on the board, according to the invention. The invention can be applied to the manufacture of packages and disposable containers made of paperboard or cardboard; for example, to the forming of a rolled-up or folded rim around a drinking cup (1), a mug or a container, the forming of a stiffening crease or projection on a paperboard container, or to the press moulding of paperboard containers or plates.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for forming a mouth roll (2) to a cup (1) made of plastic-coated board and to the cup provided with a mouth roll produced by the method. The mouth roll for stiffening the cup is produced with a suitable striking tool bending the board at the mouth of the cup. In accordance with the invention, the mouth roll is additionally stabilized by melting the plastic coating (8) of the board under heat so that the opposite surfaces of the board adhere to each other by heat-sealing in the area of the roll. Melting can be performed e.g. by hot-air blasting directed to the mouth roll at is production stage.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for drying a moving web of material at a paper or board machine. The drying is performed by a heated drying cylinder (1) transverse to the direction of travel of the web, past which the web is being led. According to the invention, the drying cylinder (1) has been constructed so that its temperature can be adjusted independently at different locations in the longitudinal direction of the cylinder, i.e. the transverse direction of the web. With the adjustability of the drying cylinder it is possible to eliminate moisture differences occurring in the transverse direction of the web in connection with the drying. Especially, it is possible to eliminate moisture lines in the longitudinal direction of the web, which are generated when forming the web on the wire. The drying can be done by independently adjustable resistance wires (12) arranged at different locations of the cylinder, by heating vapour supplied independently to different zones of the cylinder, or by using both drying methods simultaneously in the same drying cylinder.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a disposable board drinking cup ( 10 ) and to the cup produced by the method. The cup is manufactured by folding a board blank between the cup mantle ( 5 ) and the collar ( 6 ), by bending and seaming the folded blank into a cone, the folding point forming the cup mouth ( 8 ), and by providing the thus seamed blank with a bottom. The cup thus formed comprises both a mantle ( 5 ) and a collar ( 6 ) bent downwardly from the cup mouth ( 8 ) and acting as a grip surface, making it easier to enjoy especially a hot drink from the cup. The shape of the cup mantle ( 5 ) and the collar ( 6 ) may be conically expanding, allowing the cups to be nested. The lower edge of the collar ( 6 ) can be equipped with a projection ( 12 ) for maintaining an air slot between the collar and the cup mantle.
