    Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming an electrically conductive layer on a corrosion-resistant layer which covers a cable. The cable is passed through a powder accumulating tank in which are mixed an electrically conductive powder and binder powder so as to allow the mixed powder to initially adhere to the surface of the cable. The mixed powder is then pressed against the surface of the cable first at a cable outlet of the powder accumulating tank and then with a powder applying device in which an endless powder applying belt or cloth is rotated around the cable at a rotational speed dependent upon the linear speed of the cable. The surface of the cable is then heated to melt the binder powder and cause the electrically conductive powder to yet more firmly adhere to the surface of the cable. The cable is then cooled and wound.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmission line using a solid cable which suppresses a negative pressure to an insulating layer near a conductor when the load is shut off, and is capable of using at a high-temperature with a large capacity. SOLUTION: This power transmission line is provided with a submarine solid cable 40 laid on the bottom of the sea, and land cables 42 connected to both terminals of the submarine solid cable 40 through oil stop junction box 41. The submarine solid cable 40 is prepared with an insulating layer impregnated with insulating oil around a conductor, and an insulating tape including a polyolefin resin film is used in at least a part of the insulating layer. The insulating oil is an intermediate viscosity insulating oil having the viscosity at 60 deg.C ranging from 10-500 sct. The oil stopping junction box 41 is put on the beach, and the land cables 42 are connected with oil feeding reservoirs 43 feeding the land cables 42 with the insulating oil having the viscosity less than the intermediate viscosity.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the external appearance abnormality by cooling the covered part slowly immediately after the covering and subsequently cooling it by cooling water. CONSTITUTION:The polyethylene extruded by an extruder 1 and covering a cable or the like is firstly cooled slowly by the air as a cooling medium from air pipes 21-23. Then, it is cooled by the cooling water in a cooling water tank 4. By this two stage cooling, an external appearance abnormality, produced when the quick cooling is carried out by using the water directly, is prevented, said abnormality is such as the wrinkled surface produced by the positional variation of the surface contraction, occurring when the cooling is effected, due to the positional variation of overflowing water from the cooling water tank 4, or the crater-like unevenness of the surface produced by fast shrinking of the polyethylene at the surface portion of the cable where a splashed water drop, produced by overflown water at the water reservoir, adheres.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To not to waste electric or heating energy needed for moisture-proofing, by performing each automatical operation control of a refrigerator and a moisture-proof apparatus according to relative humidity between open air dew point temperature and desired low humidity atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:The dew point temperature range of open air 6 is determined by a detection signal from a dew point thermometer 25 through an operation controller 30, four refrigerator units 1-4 are ON/OFF-controlled according to the range, and the moisture-proof capacity of the whole refrigerator units is heightened when open air dew point temperature is high and is lowered when the temperature is low. In the meantime, the calculated relative humidity between a storage shed 10 and each paper-covering chamber 11-13 is required by the operation controller 30 through the detection signal from the thermometers 21-24 and the dew point temperature 26-29, and the highest relative humidity range among the four sections is determined. The opening of a damper 18 for adjusting the regenerating hot air quantity of the moisture-proof apparatus 7 according to said range is controlled. Thus, the driving energy of the refrigerator and the regenerating energy of the moisture-proof apparatus are not wasted.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a DC O.F.(oil-filled) power cable capable of suppressing deterioration in its performance if a void is formed directly on a conductor or directly under a metallic sheath due to a change in temperature. SOLUTION: This DC O.F. power cable is equipped with an insulation layer 3 on the periphery of the conductor 1. Plastic laminate paper made by bonding low-ρ (resistivity) kraft paper to at least one side of a plastic film is used as the layer 3. The low-ρ kraft paper is obtained by giving ρ-lowering treatment to insulating kraft paper, and it has an insulation resistance not less than 10% and not more than 80% of that of kraft paper not yet given the treatment. An addition of dicyandiamide is mentioned as a method of the treatment. By lowering the insulation resistance of kraft paper by the treatment, the initiation of discharge in the void can be inhibited.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid cable usable at a higher voltage and at a higher temperature to perform a large capacity transmission of electrical energy by impregnating an insulating layer with a middle viscosity insulating oil having a viscosity within a specified range. SOLUTION: The middle viscosity insulating oil consists of an insulating oil having a viscosity at 60 of 10 cst or more and less than 500 cst. Particularly, the SP value (solubility index) of the insulating oil is preferably set within the range of ± 1.5 from the SP value of a polyolefin resin film used for the insulating layer. Particularly preferable examples of the insulating oil include dodecyl benzene. A tape containing the polyolefin resin film is preferably used for at least a part of the insulating layer. Particularly, it is preferred to apply a composite tape consisting of a polyolefin resin film and craft papers laminated on both sides thereof and an insulating tape consisting of only the polyolefin resin film to the insulating layer by alternately winding them. Further, a reinforcing layer is suitably formed on the circumference of a metal sheath provided on the circumference of the insulating layer.
