    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make sealing of a glass tube body possible without using a special exhaust tube by providing a metal ball coated with solder glass at the exhaust port of the glass tube body and sealing the exhaust port after evacuating inside the glass tube body. CONSTITUTION:A sealing metal ball 9 is prepared in such a manner that on the surface of a metal ball made of an alloy such as of Ni-Cr-Fe, an oxide film 7 is made up and a solder glass film 8 is formed thereon and after that the metal ball 9 is temporarily sintered. A glass tube body 1 having an exhaust port 4 disposed with the sealing ball 9 is arranged in a vacuum bell jar and after performing baking exhaustion the sealing ball 9 is heated with a high frequency heating coil 10. By this heating the solder glass film 8 on sealing ball 9 is melted and seals the exhaust port 4. By this method the glass tube body 1 can be sealed up without requiring any exhaust tube.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable a stem with an exhaust tube to be efficiently mass-produced by forming its flare section by heating and molding a powdery glass. CONSTITUTION:The melting point of a molded body 13 formed by a semicrystalline glass, is abut 440 deg.C. After the molded body 13 is formed by sintering and thermal molding, a conductor 14 is airtightly fused to the molded body 13 and the thus formed member is then integrated with a metallic shell 12 to make a flare section 33. At the same time, an exhaust tube 11 is attached to the glass of the flare section 33, thereby obtaining a desired stem 34 with the exhasut tube 11.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To increase the airtightness of the sealing of a cathode-ray tube by joining a metal ring to a stem part, inserting the neck part of the cathode-ray tube into an annular ditch formed between the stem part and the metal ring, and sealing the cathode-ray tube by use of frit glass.
    CONSTITUTION: A stem pin 11 is made to penetrate a stem part 12, which has a convex-like cross section and the peripheral part of which is thinner than the other part. At the same time, the stem part 12 is placed inside a metal ring 13. Then, the stem part 12 and the ring 13 are welded by heating with a high- frequency heater 14. After that, a low-melting-point frit glass 16 is filled in an annular groove 15 formed between the ring 13 and the peripheral part of the stem part 12, and is sintered temporarily by heating. Next, after the rear end of a neck part 4 in which an electron gun 3 is inserted is made to be in contact with the frit glass 16, the glass 16 is molten by heating the ring 13 in vacuum so as to make the neck part 4 and the stem part 12 to be fused. As a result, the airtightness of the fused part is increased.
