    Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiently produce a polymer product having excellent luster, by predrying polybutylene terephthalate particles without agitation, thereafter introducing the predried particles to a solid-phase polymerization tank, and heighten the MW of the particles by a continuous air stream solid-phase polymerization process. CONSTITUTION:Predrying of undried polybutylene terephthalate (herein-after abbreviated as PBT) particles is conducted under unagitated conditions in a predrying tank 2 of a polymerization apparatus comprising the predrying tank 2, a solid- phase polymerization tank 6, etc., to thereby reduce the formation of fine particles of PBT, which cause decrease in the surface luster of polymer products. Then, the PBT particles dried to a moisture content of below about 0.01wt% are introduced continuously to the solid-phase polymerization tank 6, wherein the solid-phase polymerization is carried out by heated gas, 170-210 deg.C, introduced from an inlet provided at the lower part of the polymerization tank 6. The product is discharged into a storage tank 9 through a discharge valve 8. In this way, formation of fine particles during predrying is decreased, so that filter clogging in the gas phase system is decreased and the productivity is improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:A resin composition for molding having improved mechanical properties. Flame retardance, and processing charactristics, obtained by adding polybutylene terephthalate to a blend of a specific copolyester and polyvinyl chloride. CONSTITUTION:C) 0.1-25 wt.% of polybutylene terephthalate is added to a blend of A) 10-80 parts by wt. of a copolyester comprising a polyester unit containing 90-40 mole % of butylene terephthalate, obtained by copolymerizing a) terephthalic acid with b) 1,4-butanediol, c) a dicarboxylic acid except the component a) and/or a low-molecular-weight diol except the component b), and d) 0-70 wt.% of a poly (alkylene oxide) glycol and B) 20-90 parts by wt. of polyvinyl chloride to give the desired composition.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve shape stability and impact resistance, by blending an ethylene copolymer having a specified copolymer composition and glass bead pretreated with epoxysilane, with a thermoplastic polyester. CONSTITUTION:1-30pts.wt. ethylene/glycidyl methacylate copolymer contg. 3-9wt% copolymerized glycidyl methacrylate and 7-150pts.wt. glass bead pretreated with epoxysilane, are blended with 100pts.wt. thermoplastic polyester such as polyethylene terephthalate or polyethylene naphthalate to produce the desired polyester compsn. for molding. The pretreatment of glass bead is conducted in such a manner that a soln. of epoxysilane is mixed with glass bead with stirring, and the mixture is left to stand in order to precipitate glass bead which is then separated and dried.
