Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a high-performance carbon fiber cord capable of manifesting processability, shape retaining properties and reinforcing effects suitable as a sewing thread for sewing a reinforcing fabric, etc., of a composite material by doubling and twisting carbon fiber bundles. CONSTITUTION: Plural carbon fiber bundles preferably having =2.5% breaking elongation measured by a single filament loop test are doubled and twisted at >=80 turns/m first twists and >=50 turns/m final twists. The resultant high-performance carbon fiber cord has =1.0 g/denier knot strength, scarcely produces yarn breakage or fluffing, etc., in a stitching process and is capable of manifesting excellent reinforcing effects as a composite material.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the titled carbon fiber exhibiting outstanding performance as a reinforcing fiber and having an oxygen ion strength ratio between the fiber core part and the surface layer part and an amount of functional group on the surface of the carbon fiber falling within respective specific ranges. CONSTITUTION:The oxygen ion ( O ) strength at the surface layer of the objective fibers is 4.0-7.5 times that of the fiber core part. The fiber has relaxed physical strain at the surface and repaired structural defects. The amount of functional group (O1S/C1S) on the fiber surface is 0.1-0.4 when measured by X-ray electrospectrometry. The fiber gives a resin-impregnated strand having extremely high strength, i.e. >=600kg/mm .

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the yarn tension below a yield stress of a load-elongation curve and prevent the occurrence of fluff or sag, by changing the direction or collecting a fiber bundle still in a swollen state spun by a wet or dry jet-wet spinning process with a specific guide. CONSTITUTION:The curvature radius of a part to be in contact with a yarn still in a swollen state of a guide used therefor is 0.1-1.5mm, preferably 0.5-1.0mm for the running direction of the yarn. The guide frictional force (ratio of the tension on the outlet side to that on the inlet side) can be reduced to reduce the tension of the yarn to be taken off below the yield stress of a load-elongation curve in the swollen state of the yarn.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fibers stably without the sticking of fibers and black falling off materials, by separating a molten polyester into a core and a sheath, flowing a polymer containing a dispersed electrically conductive material on the periphery of the core, flowing a sheath component on the resultant periphery, extruding the components, and orienting and crystallizing the extruded fibers. CONSTITUTION:An electrically nonconductive polyester 1 e.g. polyethylene terephthalate, is melted and filtered and made to flow down while metered by a metering hole 3, and an electrically conductive synthetic polymer 2 containing 10-60wt% dispersed electrically conductive carbon black is flowed while metered by a metering hole 5 to form a two-layered flow 7 enclosing the outer periphery of the electrically nonconductive component 1 with the electrically conductive component 2 at a combining part 6 provided at the outlet periphery of the metering hole 3. The electrically nonconductive polyester 1' metered by a metering hole 4 and flowed out in the electrically nonconductive polyester 1 is made to flow in the outer periphery of the two-layered flow 7 at a combining part 8 provided at the outlet periphery of the path to form a three-layered flow 9, which is then extruded through an extruding hole 10, oriented and crystallized to give the aimed fibers.
