Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the sure gripping of the clips of a tentering device and make it possible to prevent the breakage of a film guided within the tentering device from developing by a method wherein the grippings of the film are started after the passing of the predetermined length from the tip of the film through the inlet part of the tentering device in the longitudinal direction of the film. SOLUTION: The tip of a film to be fed to a tentering device 13 is detected on the downstream side of the changing-over flap 38 of a film running direction so as to move a driving means 21 downwards by means of a tip detecting signal sent to a controlling device 51 so as to control the gripping starting time of the film 11 by clips 19. The controlling of the gripping starting time is calculated by the running speed of the film, which is measured since the time, at which the tip of the film 11 passes through the sensor 52, so as to control the starting of the gripping of the film at a timing that the advancement of the tip of the film 11 by a predetermined length after its passing of a film gripping starting position 44. Thus, the sure gripping starting of the clips 19 of the film 11 can be realized, resulting in allowing to prevent the breakage of the tip of the film 11 due to stress concentration from occurring.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of foam at the time of forming a film from solution by spraying gas to a lateral end of polymer solution cast on a support. SOLUTION: A metal drum of a support 5 is rotated, for example, at 10 m/min of a circumferential speed, and aromatic polyamide solution 3 of about 2000 poise of clay is cast in a thickness of about 100 μm from a base 1 in the drum. Dry air is sprayed at a wind speed of about 20 m/sec by a pipe having an inner diameter of about 2 mm at 10 mm from above the drum to a forward position of about 2 mm from a landing line of the solution 3 to the support 5. Thus, at the time of forming a film of the solution, generation of foam due to entrainment of the air with an end of the solution is prevented. As a result, molding of an end of the film is stabilized. At the time of orienting, breakage of the film is eliminated to improve productivity. Further, a pressure reducing unit 2 is provided to reduce pressure in a space surrounded by the base 1, solution 3 and support to prevent introduction of the air between the solution 3 and the support 5 for causing foam to be formed.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the end part of a sheet-like matter from being torn or broken by a method wherein the thickness adjusting element of an extruding sheet in a sheet- like matter extruding means is automatically adjusted so as to bring a detected end part thickness profile close to a target profile. SOLUTION: A sheet-like matter 4, which is produced by extruding a sheet-like matter 2 from a sheet-like matter extruding means (a mouthpiece) 1 so as to cast it on a sheet shape stabilizing means 3 in order to obtain a sheet-like matter 4. With the detecting means 9 of the end part thickness profile on the downstream side of a laterally stretching means 5, the end part thickness profile of a sheet-like matter 6 is measured. The resultant information is fed to a controlling device 10 in the form of electric signals 11 in order to output electric signals 12 for adjusting the extruded thickness of the sheet-like matter end part of a mouthpiece 1 so as to bring the end part thickness close to the set point stored in the controlling device 10. In this case, in the mouthpiece 1, the thickness adjusting element of an extruding sheet 14 consisting of bolts 13 is provided so as to adjust the thickness of the end parts on the downstream side of the laterally stretching means 5 by thermally extending and contracting the bolts through the turning ON and OFF of heaters by means of the electric signals 12.
