    Abstract: PURPOSE:To generate the required temperature distribution at the time of heating by changing the filling quantity of carbon fibers or changing the types of the matrix carbon in the thickness direction or in the preset direction on the surface. CONSTITUTION:A larger current flows in a heater as the filling quantity of carbon fibers is increased. If the type of matrix carbon differs, the current value is changed. Heaters 1a and 1b with different patterns or alignment states of carbon fibers of different types of the matrix carbon are used, a region where the current easily flows and a region where the current hardly flows are properly distributed in the thickness direction or in the preset direction on the surface. The required temperature distribution can be thereby applied, or it can be eliminated on the contrary.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily obtain a tubular C/C composite of carbon fiber and a carbonizable substance without causing the deformation and the carbon fiber breakage by inserting specific place into both ends of the formed tubular material before baking. CONSTITUTION:The tubular formed article 1 used as a raw material for the objective composite material is composed of long or short carbon fibers such as roving or woven fabric and a carbonizable substance such as phenolic resin, epoxy resin, petroleum heavy oil and pitch. Plates 2 are inserted into the formed article 1 before baking. The plate 2 has an outer dimension equal to the inner dimension of the formed material in the firing stage. The plate 2 is brought into contact with the inner circumference of the formed article in firing to prevent the deformation of both ends of the formed article 1. It is preferable to fill a filler 3 in the formed article 1 to prevent the deformation of the middle part distant from the plates 2.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the electrical connection and to increase the mechanical strength by placing a connection member which consists of a heatproof conductive material with the rigidity lower than that of a C/C composite heating body between the terminal of the C/C composite heating body and an electrode. CONSTITUTION:Between the terminal 11a of a C/C composite heating body 11 and an electrode, a connection member which consists of a heatproof conductive material with the rigidity lower than that of said heating body 11 is placed. As the connection material, a sintered carbon; a high melting point metal such as Mo, W, Cr, Ti, Zr, and Ta; various sorts of heatproof alloys; a conductive ceramics such as a conductive nitride, a conductive metal silicate, and a conductive carbide; and moreover, a conductive cement or adhesive made by mixing the powder of those materials with a carbonic binder such as coal tar and coal tar pitch, a phenol resin, a furan resin, a KOPUNA [phonetic] resin; are used. When the terminal 11a and the electrode are connected, a washer is made from said material, for example, the washer is placed between the terminal and the electrode, and fastened with a screw nut and the like.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the minimization of a heating body in shape and the reduction thereof in heat capacity to be obtained, by forming each of connecting members that are interposed between a heating body and electrodes and then supply electric currents to the heating body, out of carbon fibre/carbon composite. CONSTITUTION:A cage type heating body 1, for example, is formed out of carbon fibre/carbon composite(C/C composite), and then the terminal portions 1a, 1a thereof are respectively led out in the shape of a leg so that there are formed through-holes 1b, 1b. Each of conductive connecting members 2, which is a strip-like sheet, having both ends formed with through-holes 2a, 2b is formed out of the C/C composite. In connecting each conductive connecting member 2, the heating body 1 is overlapped at the through-hole 1b in the terminal portion 1a on the through-hole 2a in each conductive connecting member 2 while each conductive connecting member 2 is overlapped at the other through-hole 2b on a through-hole 4a in each of Cu electrodes 4, so that they are respectively screwed tight. Since, in this manner, the heating body is formed out of the C/C composite having low resistivity and great mechanical strength, it can be thinned and miniaturized while also having less heat capacity.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the dispersion on the heating surface and obtain a heater with large mechanical strength and good workability by making the alignment pattern of carbon fibers viewed from the vertical direction to the heating surface equal between portions at any portion of the heating surface. CONSTITUTION:A carbonizable material is impregnated in a circular fabric of carbon fibers stacked for artificial isotropy or an unwoven mat of one- direction aligned materials or carbon fibers, and it is baked to form a planar heater 1. When the fabric or the like of carbon fibers corresponding to the shape of the heater 1 is used, carbon fibers have the same alignment at any portion when viewed from the vertical direction to the heater 1, the heat quan tity is made equal. The dispersion of the heating surface is small, the heater with large mechanical strength and various shapes is obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a heat transfer pipe which has heat transfer ability, airtightness, corrosion resistance, and mechanical strength, by a method wherein a carbon film is formed on at least one surface of the inner and the outer surface of a pipe formed of carbon fiber-reinforced carbon. CONSTITUTION:A raw pipe is a pipe formed of reinforcing carbon, e.g. soft carbon, hard carbon, and thermal decomposition carbon, on a carbon fiber base material formed of continuous fiber and tow of carbon fiber, fabrics. A carbon film is formed preferably by pyrotech graphite (PG) for the reason that airtightness is as high as that of glass irrespective of the magnitude of density. The film can be formed by a chemical gas phase deposition process. The carbon film may be formed by coating polyacrylnitryl resin, furfuryl alcohol resin, a divinylbenzen polymer on the raw pipe, and by heating the resins in inactive atmosphere, and carbonizing the film. The thickness of the carbon film is preferably 0.5-1000mum. In application where an inner pressure is applied, the film may be formed preferably on the inner surface, whereas in application where an external pressure is applied, it is formed preferably on the outer surface.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of creases in reinforced fibers and the generation of ply separation and voids in a composite body by a method wherein an inner side face erecting at a specific angle from a base and a base are formed, a resin-impregnating reinforced fiber layer is formed along the inner surface of a cuppy mold having the specific radius of curvature of a corner, granules are introduced onto the resin-impregnating reinforced fiber layer along the corner, and these fiber-reinforced layer and the granules are wrapped with a film and autoclave-molded. CONSTITUTION:A mold 6 has a base 3 and an inner side face 4 erected and at an angle of 135 deg. or less exceeding 90 deg. to the base from the base 3, and the radius of curvature (r) of a corner 5 formed to the connecting section of these base 3 and inner side face 4 is brought to 20mm or less. A resin-impregnating reinforced-fiber layer 7 is shaped along the inner surface of the mold 6 in the inner surface, granules 8 are introduced onto the resin-impregnating reinforced fiber layer 7 along the corner 5 of the mold 6, these whole, the mold 6, the resin-impregnating fiber-reinforced layer 7, and the granules 8 are wrapped with a film 9, the inside is decompressed, and the whole is admitted into an autoclave and molded.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To restrict heat transfer from a heating member to a power electrode by disposing a connection member between a terminal portion of the heating member and the power electrode to stable electrical connection therebetween. CONSTITUTION:A connection member 2 is disposed between a terminal portion 1 of the heating member and a power electrode to form high thermal resistance region on the connecting portion of the terminal portion 1 and the connection member 2 or in the vicinity thereof. As for the heating member, such as the one made of graphite or carbon fiber/carbon composite are used other than a usual heating member or seramic heating member. Further, as for the connection member 2, such as the one made of graphite or carbon fiber/carbon composite, conductive metallic silicide such as MoSiO2 or conductive nitride such as BN are used. Heat generated by the heating member is thus restricted to transfer to the connection member and further to the power electrode. As a result, thermal efficiency of the heating member is improved and degradation of the electrode due to the heat is prevented.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the title members to be joined firmly by putting a prepreg made of carbon fibers and a carbonizable substance in the joint area between two carbon fiber/carbon composite members, pressing and heating it to join the members together, and baking in a non-oxidizing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A prepreg made of carbon fibers and a carbonizable substance (e.g., B-stage phenolic resin) is put in a joint area between a pair of members comprising either a carbon fiber/carbon composite or a material that will form a carbon fiber/carbon composite when baked, which is heated while the prepreg is pressed by the pair of members to join the members together and which is then baked in a non-oxidizing atmosphere. This technique enables carbon fiber/carbon composite members to be joined together very firmly to give a heat-resistant, corrosion-resistant, conductive joint; therefore, it can be utilized in assembling a heat generating device of a complicated shape and a heat generating device used in a corrosive atmosphere, wherein a carbon fiber/carbon composite is employed as heating element.
