Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate the occurrence of sticking even under a high printing energy to prevent such troubles as the contamination of a thermal head and a running failure by specifying an Si/C atom number ratio attributed to a bifunctional siloxane in a protective layer each in the outer and inner layers of the protective layer. CONSTITUTION:The title film is a laminated film having a protective film on one surface of a biaxially oriented polyester film. An Si/C atom number ratio attributed to a bifunctional siloxane in the protective layer is determined to be 0.15-0.40 in the outer layer of the protective layer and 0.05 or less in the inner layer thereof. When the Si/C atom number ratio in the outer layer of the protective layer is less than 0.15, sticking and running properties cannot be sufficiently improved. When it is more than 0.40, the effect on improving sticking and running properties can be obtained, but the insufficient strength of the outer layer of the protective layer induces the contamination of a thermal head. On the other hand, when the Si/C atom number ratio in the inner layer of the protective layer is more than 0.05, the adhesion of the polyester film substrate with the protective layer is insufficient, and the resulting removal of the protective layer causes the contamination of the thermal head.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate an abnormal spot of color on a display and to improve the visibility by forming the phase difference film of a polyester film and putting its retardation value, variation index, and light-beam transmissivity within specific numeric ranges. CONSTITUTION:An amorphous film of polyester after being drawn is reduced in weight with acid or alkali; and the measured value of retardation obtained through a polarization microscope is 200 - 1500 nm, the retardation variation index is =75%. Thus, polyester is used as the raw material to obtain superior solvent resistance, and the weight reduction using acid or alkali is performed to easily obtain an optional retardation value of the phase difference film, thereby decreasing the retardation spots of the phase difference film. Further, a layer which is lower in refractive index in the direction of the main orientation axis than the phase difference film is provided on the external surface of the phase difference film, so the oblique visibility is improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To form a non-repellent and uniformly strong coat and thereby eliminate back surface transfer of an ink layer without sticking by providing a protective layer consisting of a mixture of swelling inorganic stratified silicate, water-dispersant thermoplastic resin and organopolysiloxane of a specific weight ratio. CONSTITUTION:Swelling inorganic stratified silicate (a) is used as an inorganic coating component. In a protective layer, the silicate exists in the form of fine particles formed at least by partial interlayer separation using the swelling property. Water-soluble or water-dispersant thermoplastic resin (b) is thermoplastic resin which is dissolved, emulsified and suspended in water. Water-soluble or water-dispersant organopolysiloxane (c) is required to have a weight ratio of 1/20 to 5/1 for a/c and also 5/1 to 1/40 for a+c/b. This is because of an increase in coat fragility which is not desirable in terms of strength, if the weight ratio is larger than 5/1. If the weight ratio is smaller than 1/40, the sticking preventive effects are insufficient as an undesirable result.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a rear layer imparting high speed properties and high resolving power, having good running properties at high temp. and excellent stickiness preventing effect by providing a carbon membrane layer to the surface having no transfer ink layer of a biaxially stretched plastic film substrate. CONSTITUTION:A carbon membrane layer is provided to the surface provided with no thermal transfer ink layer of a biaxially stretched plastic film substrate having a thickness of 1-10mum provided with a thermal transfer ink layer. In a vacuum vapor deposition apparatus for forming the carbon membrane layer, for example, a vapor deposition source 1 due to electron beam heating is loaded with a carbon ingot and a plastic film 2 is mounted to a long substrate running system. Subsequently, a vacuum tank 3 is evacuated from an exhaust port 8 to be pref. set to 1X10 Torr or less. The plastic film is payed out from a paying out shaft 4 and taken up by a taking-up shaft 6 through a drum 5 cooled to a predetermined temp. while carbon is evaporated from an evaporation source 1 and a predetermined carbon membrane is formed on the plastic film 2.

CONSTITUTION:A coating film containing at least a modified acrylic resin desirably containing at least one kind of a carboxyl (carboxylate), an acid anhydride, a hydroxyl, an alkylol, an epoxy, an amino and an amide (e.g. maleic acid and acrylamide-modified ethyl acrylate/methyl methacrylate copolymer) and an ethylene oxide-containing epoxy polyether-modified silicone desirably containing 1-60wt.% silicone component and having a surface of an offset index of 30-50dyn/cm is formed on at least either surface of a biaxially oriented polyester film.
