    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the recording medium in which the degradation of the fluctuation, etc., in film thickness of the recording layer hardly occurs even at the time of repeating many times of rewriting of a record by constituting at least one layer of the first and second dielectric layers of a glass material without substantially generating thermal expansion. CONSTITUTION:The thermal expansion of the dielectric layer using the glass material due to the heat generated in the recording layer hardly generates even when the recording layer is heated with the laser irradiation for performing the recording. As a result, fluctuation in film thickness of the recording layer hardly occurs because of the thermal stress generated in the dielectric layer and deterioration of the recording characteristics and defects of the recording part are hardly generated even at the time of repeating many times of recording. At this time as the first dielectric layer, a thin film of an inorganic compound such as ZnS, SiO2, silicon nitride, aluminum oxide, etc., can be used. Particularly, thin films of ZnS, oxide of metal such as Si, GeAl, Ti, Zr, Ta, etc., and a mixture of these compounds are preferred because of having the high heat resistance.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To correct and control the film thickness of a protective layer in the production process of an optical recording medium by quantitatively controlling changes in the hue based on the optical film thickness of the protective layer of the optical recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The optical recording medium is obtd. by successively laminating a protective layer 2, recording layer 3, protective layer 4, and reflecting layer 5 on a substrate 1. The medium is irradiated with several light beams of different wavelengths, and the reflected light from the substrate 1 is measured to inspect the optical film thickness of the protective layer 2. In this case, the correlation between the reflectance and the film thickness of the protective layer 2 depends on the measuring wavelength. The optical film thickness can be accurately controlled based on small changes of the reflectance with using a color and color-difference meter.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having excellent wear resistance by forming a thin film magnetic layer on a biaxially oriented base film and thermally shrinking the film by 0.5-10% shrinkage. CONSTITUTION:A thin film type magnetic layer is formed on a biaxially oriented base film and then thermally shrinked by 0.5-10% shrinkage in one direction. Namely, after forming a specified magnetic layer and other layers on at least one side of the biaxially oriented base film to obtain a magnetic recording medium, the medium is subjected to specified thermal shrinking treatment. In this process, it is specified that the medium shows 0.5-10% shrinkage in at least one direction. Thereby, strength and hardness of the magnetic layer is improved, which improves wear resistance and increases reliability.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obviate the generation of curling and to improve wear resistance by forming a carbon protective layer on the rear surface side of a substrate to the thickness of a range 0.5 to 2.0 times the thickness of the carbon protective layer on the front surface of a magnetic recording layer. CONSTITUTION:The inside of a vacuum chamber 5 of an electron beam vapor deposition device is evacuated and thereafter metals essential consisting of cobalt are evaporated while the flexible high-polymer substrate 16 is made to travel at a prescribed speed by a traveling system and while prescribed gases are supplied. After a specified vacuum is broken, graphite carbon is evaporated and the carbon protective layer is laminated on the magnetic recording layer. An ion source 25 is used at need at this time. After the vacuum is broken again, the carbon protective layer is stuck on the rear surface side of the substrate. The carbon protective layer which consists of the carbon of the same quality as the quality of the carbon formed on the front surface of the magnetic recording layer and has the thickness of the range of 0.5 to 2.0 times the thickness of the carbon protective layer on the front surface of the magnetic recording layer is provided.

SOLUTION: This optical recording medium has at least the first protection layer, a recording layer, the second protection layer and a reflection layer laminated on a substrate in this order. In the medium, information can be recorded, deleted or reproduced by irradiating the recording layer with light. The information is recorded and deleted by making the phase transition between the amorphous phase and the crystal phase. Each of the first and second protection layers has such a structure that two or more layers consisting of chalcogen compound and metal oxide and two or more layers consisting of carbon are laminated.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion resistance of a magnetic recording medium by incorporating fluorine and carbon into a magnetic recording layer essentially consisting of a ferromagnetic material and the oxide thereof on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:The fluorine and carbon are incorporated into the magnetic recording layer of the magnetic recording medium provided with the magnetic recording layer essentially consisting of the ferromagnetic material and the oxide thereof on a substrate. The content of the fluorine contained in the magnetic recording layer is confined to a 0.1-10% range in carbon atoms of the ferromagnetic material atoms. The corrosion resistance of the magnetic recording layer itself is thereby improved and the degradation in the magnetic characteristics and recording density of the magnetic recording layer itself is obviated; in addition, the magnetic recording layer is efficiently formed under high productivity.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent transfer mistakes and defective inspection and to improve the working ratio of installation and inspection efficiency by providing a guide for supporting a tray and at the same time for regulating the position when the tray is in a position to supply a disk. SOLUTION: When the tray 4 of the inspection equipment is projected forward, an automatic conveying robot charges/discharges a medium of optical disk onto/out of the charging groove. Guides 1 are fixed to two points on the right and left of the inspection equipment 2 on the rack 3 fixing the inspection equipment 2. The guides 1 are each provided with guide rollers. Each guide roller is provided with a cylindrical part and a conical part jointly following the cylindrical part downwards. When the tray 4 proceeds projecting forward, the cylindrical part of guide roller reglates in the direction of width of the tray 4, and the conical lower part guides in the upper and lower directions. Thus, by the regulation in the two directions and at the same time by bearing over load from the conveying robot at the time of transfer, the disk deck for mounting AV equipment, though poor in structural durability, is usable as inspection equipment 2.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a rear layer imparting high speed properties and high resolving power, having good running properties at high temp. and excellent stickiness preventing effect by providing a carbon membrane layer to the surface having no transfer ink layer of a biaxially stretched plastic film substrate. CONSTITUTION:A carbon membrane layer is provided to the surface provided with no thermal transfer ink layer of a biaxially stretched plastic film substrate having a thickness of 1-10mum provided with a thermal transfer ink layer. In a vacuum vapor deposition apparatus for forming the carbon membrane layer, for example, a vapor deposition source 1 due to electron beam heating is loaded with a carbon ingot and a plastic film 2 is mounted to a long substrate running system. Subsequently, a vacuum tank 3 is evacuated from an exhaust port 8 to be pref. set to 1X10 Torr or less. The plastic film is payed out from a paying out shaft 4 and taken up by a taking-up shaft 6 through a drum 5 cooled to a predetermined temp. while carbon is evaporated from an evaporation source 1 and a predetermined carbon membrane is formed on the plastic film 2.

SOLUTION: When a reference optical recording medium 2 whose characteristics of an error rate, etc., are grasped beforehand is set in a inspection drive 1, a pattern data control means 9 selects properly one pattern data from among plural pattern data stored in a memory 8, and sends the command of the recording power and the pulse width of the pattern data to a slave computer 6, and first inspects the characteristic of the reference optical recording medium 2 by irradiating the laser beam of the recording power and the pulse width. Then, the pattern data are changed automatically, and the pattern data control means 9 sends the command of the recording power and the pulse width of the changed pattern data to the slave computer 6 to inspect similarly the characteristic of the reference optical recording medium 2.
