Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production process whereby a high-quality polyester can be stably produced while preventing the deposition and accumulation of distillates in a gas exhaust line and to provide a polycondensation reactor used therefor. SOLUTION: After the completion of batch-type polycondensation of a polyester. the inside of a condensor 5 for condensing and collecting a vapor generated by the reaction and/or the inside of a gas exhaust line 4 is cleaned with a hot diol alone or together with hot water or steam.
