    Abstract: 1,133,040. Spinning pack for composite filaments. TOYO RAYON, K.K. 25 July, 1967 [26 July, 1966], No. 34073/67. Heading B5B. A spinning pack assembly for spinning composite filaments comprises a pack housing 1 having a flange 2 at its lower end supporting a composite spinneret 3; a first filtering means consisting of a pressure plate 4, screen 5, and sand 6 resting on the upper surface of the spinneret; a shoulder 7 supporting a spacer 9, the spacer having a duct 8 passing through it, and having an annular concave portion 11 formed in its upper surface, and an aperture 12 communicating with the annular concave portion and with a passage 13 in the housing; a second filtering means consisting of pressure plate 15, screen 16 and sand 17 further residing on the upper surface of the spacer, the second filtering means supporting a second spacer 18 with a duct 19 passing therethrough. The upper opening of the spinning pack is sealed by a clamp ring 22 secured to a screw 23 on the pack housing. A delta ring 24 between the spinneret and the pressure plate 4 of the first filtering means, and an O-ring 27 between the shoulder 7 of the housing and the spacer 9 prevent premature intermixing of the two polymeric materials. In operation two kinds of polymeric material are each fed to ducts 8 and 19 and are filtered by the first and second filtering means. The material supplied to duct 19 flows through the concave portion 11 of the spacer 9 and then through channel 13 and a horizontal nozzle 14 to the spinneret. The material supplied to duct 8 is filtered by the first filtering means and flows into a vertical nozzle 28 where it is joined by material from nozzle 14, the two kinds of polymeric material then being spun from the lower surface of the spinneret as composite filaments.
