    Abstract: Disclosed is a resin composition comprising (A) from 1 - 98 wt. parts of a graft copolymer obtained by graft-polymerizing (a) 5 - 80 wt.% of a rubbery polymer and (b) 95 - 20 wt.% of a monomer mixture consisting of 40 - 90 wt.% of an aromatic vinyl compound, 60 - 10 wt.% of a vinyl cyanide compound and 0 - 50 wt.% of another ethylenically unsaturated compound copolymerizable therewith, (B) 1 - 40 wt.% parts of a modified copolymer selected from (B1) a modified vinyl copolymer obtained by polymerizing (a) 40 - 90 wt.% of an aromatic vinyl compound, (b) 60 - 10 wt.% of a vinyl cyanide compound, (c) 0.01 - 10 wt.% of a monomer having an epoxy, carboxyl or amino group, and (d) 0 - 40 wt.% of another ethylenically unsaturated compound, and (B2) a modified olefinic copolymer obtained by copolymerizing (e) 50 95 wt.% of ethylene or propylene, (f) 0.1 - 20 wt.% of a monomer having an epoxy, carboxyl or amino group, and (g) 0 - 40 wt.% of another ethylenically unsaturated compound, (C) 1 - 60 wt. parts of an imidized acrylic resin, and (D) from 0 - 90 wt. parts of a vinyl copolymer obtained by polymerizing (a) 40 - 90 wt.% of an aromatic vinyl compound, (b) 60 - 10 wt.% of a vinyl cyanide compound and (c) 0 - 40 wt.% of another ethylenically unsaturated compound, wherein the content of the rubbery polymer (a) in the graft copolymer (A) is 5 to 40 wt.% based on the resin composition. This resin composition gives a shaped article having a delustered and pleasing appearance and a good impact resistance.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a resin composition with greatly high gloss and high impact resistance by incorporating a metal salt of organic acid in two kinds of graft copolymer with dispersed rubber particles whose mean sizes are specified respectively. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be obtained by incorporating 100 pts.wt. of a composition with specified butadiene polymer content made up of (A) a graft copolymer produced by polymerization between an aromatic vinyl compound and/or unsaturated carboxylic alkyl ester compound and vinyl cyanide compound in the presence of a butadiene-based polymer latex 0.12-0.2mum in the mean size of the polymer particles with >=80wt.% thereof satisfying the relationship [M is mean particle size (mum); X is each particle size of the rubber (mum)] and (B) a second graft copolymer produced by polymerization of a monomer mixture similar to that in the case of A in the presence of a second butadiene-based latex 0.24-0.38mum in the mean size of the polymer particles, with (C) 0.01-0.5 pts.wt. of a metal salt of organic acid.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a composition improved in reduced surface gloss and suitable as automotive internal trim parts, etc., without impairing mechanical properties by blending specific amounts of a graft copolymer with a reactive functional group-containing copolymer, imidated acrylic resin, etc. CONSTITUTION:A composition, obtained by blending (A) 1-98 pts.wt. graft copolymer composed of (A1) 5-80wt.% rubber-like polymer and (A2) 95-20wt.% mixed monomer composed of aromatic vinyl monomers, etc., with (B) 1-40 pts.wt. modified olefinic copolymer prepared by copolymerizing (B1) an aromatic vinyl monomer, a vinyl cyanide monomer, a monomer having functional group selected from epoxy group, etc., in the molecule, etc., or (B2) a monomer composed of ethylene, etc., a monomer having functional group in the molecule, etc., (C) 1-60 pts.wt. imidated acrylic resin and (D) 0-90 pts.wt. vinylic copolymer and containing 5-40wt.% rubber-like polymer in the whole composition.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve moldability and resistance to impact, heat, and chemicals by compounding a specific graft copolymer compsn. with a polyester, an inorg. filler, and a crystallization accelerator. CONSTITUTION:90-15 pts.wt. monomer mixture comprising 50-90wt.% arom. vinyl, 9-50wt.% vinyl cyanide, and 0.001-15wt.% epoxidized vinyl monomer (e.g. glycidyl acrylate) is graft copolymerized in the presence of 10-85 pts.wt. diene rubber to give a graft copolymer, which is copolymerized with another monomer (e.g. acrylic acid) to give a graft copolymer compsn. 100 pts.wt. compsn. comprising 1-98 pts.wt. said graft copolymer or graft copolymer compsn., 1-98 pts.wt. polyester which has an intrinsic viscosity of 0.35dl/g or higher and in which terephthalic acid accounts for 50mol% or higher of the dicarboxylic acid component and ethylene glycol accounts for 50mol% or higher of the diol component, and 1-70 pts.wt. inorg. filler (e.g. a chopped strand glass fiber) is compounded with 0.01-5 pts.wt. crystallization accelerator (e.g. MgO).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition excellent in resistance to impact, heat and chemicals, molding processability and surface appearance by incorporating a composition comprising a specific graft copolymer and polyamide resin with an aqueous solution of metal hydroxide at a specified proportion. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be obtained by incorporating a composition comprising (A) 1-99wt.% of a graft copolymer prepared by graft polymerization to A1: 5-80 pts.wt. of a rubbery polymer (e.g. polybutadiene) of A2: 95-20 pts.wt. of a monomer mixture of (1) 10-90wt.% of an aromatic vinyl monomer, (2) 90-10wt.% of vinyl cyanide and/or a (meth)acrylic alkyl ester and (3) 0-40wt.% of another vinyl monomer copolymerizable therewith and (B) 99-1wt.% of a polyamide resin with (C) an aqueous solution of a metal oxide 1-45wt.% in concentration (e.g. lithium hydroxide) at such a proportion as to satisfy the relationships I and II. It is preferable that the metal in the component C be a group I or II metal falling between the second and sixth period in the providic table.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the balance among the compatibility, mechanical properties, and flowability by compounding an aq. metal hydroxide soln. into a compsn. comprising a specific graft copolymer and an arom. polyester resin. CONSTITUTION:5 to 80 pts.wt. rubber polymer [e.g. butadiene (co)polymer] having a glass transition temp. of 0 deg.C or lower is graft copolymerized with 95 to 20 pts.wt. monomer mixture comprising 20 to 90wt.% arom. vinyl monomer (e.g. styrene) (i), 80 to 10wt.% vinyl cyanide monomer (e.g. acrylonitrile) and/or alkyl ester of an unsatd. carboxylic acid (e.g. methyl methacrylate) (ii), and 0 to 40wt.% other vinyl monomer (iii) copolymerizable with the abovementioned monomers (i) and (ii), thus giving a graft copolymer. A resin compsn. comprising 1 to 99wt.% resulting graft copolymer and 99 to 1wt.% arom. polyester resin is compounded with a 1 to 45wt.% aq. soln. of a hydroxide of a metal of the group I or II of the second to sixth period of the periodic table is compounded in an amt. satisfying formulas I and II (wherein (x) is the number of moles of water in said aq. soln.; (y) is the number of moles of said metal hydroxide in said aq. soln.; and (m) is the number of moles of (ii) in said resin compsn).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject thermostable, transparent and chemical-resistant copolymer by initiating water-based suspension polymerization of vinyl cyanide and part of an aromatic vinylic monomer and comonomer with a specific polymerization initiator, adding the remainder of the aromatic vinyl compound while increasing the temperature and then completing the polymerization. CONSTITUTION:(A) The total amount of a vinyl cyanide-based monomer, (B) part of an aromatic vinylic monomer and (C) the total amount of a copolymerizable monomer are initially charged to initiate water-based suspension polymerization in the presence of a polymerization initiator having =95% to complete the polymerization. Thereby, the objective copolymer composed of 40-80wt.% component (A), 60-20wt.% component (B) and 0-20wt.% component (C) is obtained.
