Abstract: A novel, easily regeneratable, high-performance chelating resin and process for preparing the same. More in particular, a crosslinked polymer consisting mainly of an aromatic vinyl monomer having a polyalkylene polyamine functional group containing an iminodipropionic acid group or an iminodi- Alpha methylpropionic acid group, and process for preparing the same. Because chelating resins of the present invention have pendant functional groups attached pendantly thereto, at least one iminodipropionic acid group or iminodi- Alpha -methylpropionic acid group and at least two nitrogen atoms, it has a very large capacity for adsorbing heavy metals per unit volume of chelating resin. Moreover, because the stability of the chelate of said iminodipropionic acid group or iminodi- Alpha -methylpropionic acid group with heavy metal ions is relatively low, regeneration from an adsorbent with heavy metals is easy. According to the process a high-performance chelating resin can be prepared, having a very high ability to absorb heavy metals. It is easily regeneratable, which has heretofore been inexpensively unattainable by conventional processes and is produced by a new process which is high in industrial practical value.

Abstract: Disclosed is a resin composition comprising (A) from 1 - 98 wt. parts of a graft copolymer obtained by graft-polymerizing (a) 5 - 80 wt.% of a rubbery polymer and (b) 95 - 20 wt.% of a monomer mixture consisting of 40 - 90 wt.% of an aromatic vinyl compound, 60 - 10 wt.% of a vinyl cyanide compound and 0 - 50 wt.% of another ethylenically unsaturated compound copolymerizable therewith, (B) 1 - 40 wt.% parts of a modified copolymer selected from (B1) a modified vinyl copolymer obtained by polymerizing (a) 40 - 90 wt.% of an aromatic vinyl compound, (b) 60 - 10 wt.% of a vinyl cyanide compound, (c) 0.01 - 10 wt.% of a monomer having an epoxy, carboxyl or amino group, and (d) 0 - 40 wt.% of another ethylenically unsaturated compound, and (B2) a modified olefinic copolymer obtained by copolymerizing (e) 50 95 wt.% of ethylene or propylene, (f) 0.1 - 20 wt.% of a monomer having an epoxy, carboxyl or amino group, and (g) 0 - 40 wt.% of another ethylenically unsaturated compound, (C) 1 - 60 wt. parts of an imidized acrylic resin, and (D) from 0 - 90 wt. parts of a vinyl copolymer obtained by polymerizing (a) 40 - 90 wt.% of an aromatic vinyl compound, (b) 60 - 10 wt.% of a vinyl cyanide compound and (c) 0 - 40 wt.% of another ethylenically unsaturated compound, wherein the content of the rubbery polymer (a) in the graft copolymer (A) is 5 to 40 wt.% based on the resin composition. This resin composition gives a shaped article having a delustered and pleasing appearance and a good impact resistance.

Abstract: An aliphatic copolyesteramide having a high degree of polymerization is prepared by heating a mixture of (A) ester-forming components comprising (a) aliphatic diols with 2 to 6 carbon atoms and (b) aliphatic dicarboxylic acids with 9 to 12 carbon atoms and (B) amide-forming components chosen from (a) aliphatic omega -aminocarboxylic acids having 11 or 12 carbon atoms and (b) equimolar salts of aliphatic diamines with 6 to 12 carbon atoms and aliphatic dicarboxylic acids with 9 to 12 carbon atoms, at temperatures of 150 to 260 DEG C, under a substantially atmospheric pressure, in the presence of catalyst and in the substantial absence of water, and subsequently heating the resulting esterified product at temperatures of 200 to 300 DEG C under a reduced pressure. The obtained copolyesteramide can be formed into various moulded articles, in particular such as tubes, having excellent flexibility, toughness, shapability, chemical resistance, heat resistance, hydrolysis resistance and fatigue resistance.

Abstract: A resinous composition, having excellent toughness, flexibility, heat resistance and moldability, comprises (A) from 5 to 98% by weight of a polyamide and (B) from 95 to 2% by weight of a polyolefin modified with from 0.001 to 10% by mole based on all of the polymer components of a component having at least one functional group selected from the groups represented by the following general formulas (I), (II) and (III); (I) (II) (III) wherein R' represents H or -CH3; and R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 are each independently selected from benzyl, phenyl, alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a group of the formula in which n is an integer of 2 to 10. The resulting compositions have excellent toughness, flexibility, heat resistance and moldability.
