    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a filter cloth which has high liquid permeability and a good fine particle catching property and is excellent in shape-retaining property and durability by incorporating single fibers interlaced with each other, fixing the single fibers to a base layer, and specifying the ratio between the length of the single fibers and the thickness of filter layer and the elongation of the filter cloth. SOLUTION: A filter layer 2 is formed of interlaced single fibers, the layer 2 is woven into a base layer 3 of a fabric to be fixed. In this process, when the average length (the length of the single fibers) from a part in which the single fibers are fixed to the base layer, or the upper end surface of the base layer, to the end of the single fibers is L (mm), and the thickness of the filter layer is T (mm), T/L is adjusted to be 0.02-0.7. When a tension is applied to a filter cloth, in order to prevent the deformation of the filter cloth, the elongation of the filter cloth is made 10% or below. Moreover, the length of the single fibers is preferably 2-20 mm, and the number of appearance of the single fibers per 1 cm2 in the surface of the base layer 3 is preferably (2×103) to (1.8×107).

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a filter cloth excellent in liquid permeability, fine particle catching properties, shape holding properties, and durability by a method in which crimped monofilaments are formed in a filter layer and fixed to a base layer, and the crimp ratio of the monofilaments and the elongation of the filter cloth are specified respectively. SOLUTION: A filter layer 2 is formed from crimped monofilaments 1, which are woven into a base layer 3 of fabric to be fixed. Fluid such as water is supplied in the direction A and filtered. The monofilaments 1, owing to being crimped, can have proper clearances to catch fine particles and simultaneously keep fluid permeability. The crimp ratio of the monofilaments is set up at 2-45% so that spaces between the monofilaments are kept properly to improve fine particle catching properties. In order to prevent the deformation of a filter cloth when strong tension is applied to the filter cloth, the elongation of the filter cloth is set up at 10% or below.
