Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of purification for an aliphatic glycol component produced in a manufacturing process of polyester, stabilizing the process and improving quality of the purified glycol component. SOLUTION: This method for purifying the aliphatic glycol produced in the manufacturing process of polyester comprises distilling the glycol in the presence of an organic alkaline compound. The preferable organic alkaline compound is a tertiary ammonium salt.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing carbon fibers by subjecting a precursor fiber bundle having a large total fineness to a flame-resistant treatment, capable of inhibiting the winding of the fiber bundle on a roll and the breakage of the fiber bundle, stably passing the fiber bundle through a process and improving the productivity. SOLUTION: This method for producing carbon fibers comprises turning back a polyacrylonitrile precursor fiber bundle having a total fineness of >=30,000 denier with a guide roll in a substantially non-twisted state in a 200-300 deg.C flame resistant treatment oven, simultaneously subjecting the fiber bundle to a flame resistant treatment, and subsequently carbonizing the treated fiber bundle. Therein, the R/F ratio of the diameter R (mm) of the guide roll to the filament number F of the precursor fiber bundle is 1×10 to 8×10 . The guide roll is disposed on the outside of the flame-resistant treatment oven, and the fiber bundle just before brought into contact with the guide roll is cooled at a temperature of

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of stably producing a highly oriented high- performance carbon fiber. SOLUTION: This method for producing carbon fiber comprises the following process: acrylonitrile-based precursor fiber bundles having a total fineness of 30,000-500,000 dtex are subjected to flameproofing treatment at a temp. of 200-250 deg.C in an oxidative atmosphere followed by carbonization treatment at a temp. of 300-1,500 deg.C in an inert atmosphere; wherein the filament yarns 1.1-1.2 g/cm3 in density put in the flameproofing early stage during the above flameproofing treatment operation is drawn by a factor of 1.05-1.2.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of carbon fibers capable of inhibiting wrapping caused from end breakage or fluff in calcination process for providing carbon fibers excellent in quality at the same time, by standing up tows under standing up from the surface of the tows shaken off to a can while traversing without bending, twisting, heaping between small tows and unevenness of thickness in the carbon fiber manufacturing process, in order to supply a tow having the resolving properties such as vertically standing up from the can, by dividing it into small tows to make use in calcination process. SOLUTION: This carbon fiber manufacturing method in which an acrylic synthetic fiber tow traversed and contained in a container, is set to stand up vertically, trimmed with a tow trimming guide, and is divided into small sized tows for subsequent incineration, the relations of the width of the traverse X (m) in the two container and the standing up length Y (m) from the container to the tow trimming guide is set to satisfy the following equation; 0.1

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a carbon fiber in baking plural small tows obtained by dividing a precausor fiber bundle in width direction, capable of continuously obtain the desired carbon fiber by simply and stably exchanging the precausor fiber bundle. SOLUTION: This method for producing a carbon fiber is provided by traveling plural small tows having >=30,000 denier total fiber thickness continuously, joining each of the small tows with each of the plural small tows having >=30,000 denier total fiber thickness obtained by dividing another precausor fiber bundle in width direction and then baking. In the carbon fiber production device having the above joining process, the joining process has plural guiding rolls 3 and 5, and among them at least one guiding roll is constituted as a movable guiding roll capable of temporarily stopping the traveling of the precausor fiber bundle 2 positioned at the upstream side to the guide roll.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing carbon fiber having high quality and excellent in higher-order processability at a low cost from tow based fiber having >=30,000 denier number. SOLUTION: This method for producing carbon fiber comprises subjecting an acrylonitrile-based fiber bundle having >=30,000 total denier number to flameproofing treatment in oxidizing atmosphere at 200-250 deg.C and carbonizing the treated fiber bundle. The producing method feathers carrying out heat treatment of flameproofed fiber bundle having 1.30-1.40 specific gravity and obtained by subjecting the fiber bundle to flameproofing treatment in an inert atmosphere in a temperature area of 300-500 deg.C at a heating rate of 50-250 deg.C/min for 0.8-4 min while keeping denier number per 1 mm width to >=5,000 and further 3 carrying out heat treatment under inert atmosphere at 800-1,000 deg.C.
