    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a polyester composition, containing organic polymeric particles having heat resistance, having excellent slipperiness, capable of providing a molding hardly causing damage or chips by friction in processing or using and useful for a biaxially oriented film, etc., by specifying the refractive index of the particles. CONSTITUTION: This composition contains organic polymeric particles having 1.385-1.405 refractive index thereof and >=415 deg.C heat resistance of 10% weight loss temperature. Furthermore, the particles are preferably divinylbenzene- ethylvinylbenzene copolymer particles having >=60% cross-linking degree and preferably added in an amount of, e.g. 0.1-1wt.% based on the polyester.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester composition, excellent in uniform dispersibility of particles, good in moldability without causing the reaggregation of the particles even when kept in a molten state and capable of providing a film excellent in runnability and abrasion resistance in molding the composition into the film. SOLUTION: This polyester composition comprises an aromatic polyester without substantially any strong acidic group or its metallic salt group, cross- linked polymer particles having >=50% cross-linking degree and a water-soluble high molecular compound. The water-soluble high molecular compound has >=0/15 coverage (s) defined by the formula (s)=wr [(w) is the amount of the added water-soluble high molecular compound (based on wt.% of the polymer particles); (r) is the average radius of the cross-linked polymer particles (μm)]. The film comprising the polyester composition is obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable drying in a short time by preventing fusing of polyester particles, by a method wherein at the time of the drying of the particles by microwaves, a water content of a surface layer part and inner layer part is specified. CONSTITUTION:Polyester is of polyethylene terephthalate and that consisting mainly of the polyethylene terephthalate and even a matter where a part of a terephthalic acid ingredient or a glycol ingredient is replaced by the other copolymeric ingredient may be good. It is necessary that water content of a surface layer part, which is less than 300mum from the surface is made at least 0.8wt.% and not exceeding 5wt.% and further water content of the central part (inner layer part) which is at least 300mum from the surface is made not exceeding 0.5wt.%, in a distribution of a containing water in polyester particles which is prior to irradiation of microwaves. Then the shortest diameter of the particles is made at least 1mm, preferably at least 1.5mm, in a particle form of a polyester resin and the microwave to be used for drying is of an electromagnetic wave where it is at least UHF zone in an electric wave classification and possesses frequency of 1-100GHz sphere, especially the microwaves of 2.45+ or -0.05GHz are favorable.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester composition which particularly shows excellent abrasion resistance and durability, when it is used as a magnetic tape base by adding a slurry prepared by wet-treating 2 or more kinds of aluminum oxide particles different in their crystalline structure. SOLUTION: When polyester is produced using the acid components mainly containing aromatic dicarboxylic acids and the glycol components mainly containing aliphatic glycol, a slurry which is prepared by wet-dispersing two or more kinds of aluminum oxides different in their crystalline structure (suitably particles of 2 or more kinds of activated alumina selected from α-, γ-, δ-, θ-aluminum oxides) in a solvent (preferably the above-stated glycol component) using a phosphorus compound, preferably phosphoric acid, ammonia or a lower amine as a dispersant is added to the polyester at any optional stage. The aluminum oxide particles preferably have a specific surface area of 50-300m /g and the total pore volume of 0.2-1.5ml/g both according to the B.E.T. method.
