    Abstract: PURPOSE:To instantly enable the use of a hydrophobic membrane as a plasma collecting membrane by introducing a hydrophilic component made water- insoluble by radiation during a process for producing a membrane based on a hydrophobic polymer. CONSTITUTION:A hydrophobic membrane is produced by using a hydrophobic polymer such as polyethylene or polypropylene as a main material. In this membrane manufacturing process, a hydrophilic component such as vinyl pyrrolidone or vinyl alcohol is introduced into a membrane forming raw soln. This hydrophilic component is insolubilized by radiation such as gamma-rays and/or heat. By this constitution, a plasma collecting membrane using an instantly usable hydrophobia membrane is obtained without being accompanied by an elution component.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrophilic membrane using a polysulfone membrane without being accompanied by a component having elution properties. SOLUTION: A hydrophilic membrane consists of a hydrophobic component based on polysulfone and physically insolubilized polyvinyl pyrrolidone and is produced by introducing vinyl pyrrolidone during a process manufacturing a membrane by using a hydrophobic polymer based on polysulfone as a main material and making the same water-insoluble by radiation and/or heat.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain inexpensive material generally usable for removing endotoxin by using a porous body in a specified porous state, consisting of methyl methacrylate polymer contg. methyl methacrylate above a specified proportion, based on monomer fraction to selectively remove endotoxin. CONSTITUTION:A hollow fiber is obtd. for example, by extruding a spinning soln. dissolved methyl methacrylate polymer and methyl methacrylate in a solvent from the outer discharge aperture of an annular spinneret by introducing dry nitrogen gas to the inside thereof to make hollow-fibrous material, and by coagulating and removing the solvent in water. A module is made of the material for removing endotoxin, consisting of the porous body contg. >=50% methyl methacrylate, based on the monomer fraction and having 30-90% equilibrium moisture content in a hydrated state at 20 deg.C. The liq. to be treated is circulated outside of the hollow fiber module. The endotoxin in the liq. to be treated in removed by adsorbing with the hollow-fibrous material for removing endotoxin.
