Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide highly sealable, stable property hollow filament, selectively permeable hollow filament is specified with respect to content of water soluble polyvalent alcohol and ratio of alcohol deposition. CONSTITUTION:Hydrophobic synthetic polymer such as polymethyl methacrylate is dessolved in hydrophilic solvent and dry/wet spinned into aqueous solution of solvent to produce hollow filament. The produced filament is washed with water and dipped in aqueous solution of water-soluble polyvalent alcohol such as glycerine, allowing contained liquid exchange treatment. The filament is treated for surface brushing by using lower concentration water soluble polyvalent alcohol. The treated filament surface is treated for scraping its externally contained liquid to seal the surface. For this process, the liquid content of polyvalent alcohol is limited to a specific range, and relation between the polyvalent alcohol deposition rate and relative dryness of sealing atomosphere is also specified, thereby to prevent filament characteristics from changing.
