    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a method of treating waste water containing substance to be oxidized which does not corrode by wet oxidizing the waste water under the condition of initial pH of 12 or higher by employing catalyst prepared by adding copper compound to hydroxide alkaline aqueous solution. CONSTITUTION:Waste water is reacted in liquid phase under the conditions of pH of 12 or higher at higher than 100 deg.C. before wet oxidation reaction with catalyst of purple or blue aqueous solution obtained by adding copper compound to hydroxide alkaline aqueous solution in the waste water containing substance to be oxidized for producing separated acid by oxidation such as, for example, organic compound containing sulfur contained compound such as thioalcohol, chlorine such as chloroform. Since the reaction is conducted under alkaline condition, the material of the device is not corroded.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To convert thiocyanate ion, thiosulfuric acid radical and free sulfur etc. to sulfuric acid radical and to prevent corrosion of reactor material, by carrying out oxidation reaction of desulfurized waste liquid at a fixed temperature adding a fixed amount of copper and ammonia water. CONSTITUTION:Metallic copper, copper alloy or copper sulfate etc. and ammonia water, are added to desulfurized waste liquid so as the concentration of copper in waste liquid to be less than 50 ppm. Next, wet process oxidation reaction is carried out under the condition maintaining at least a part of the liquid in liquid phase by supplying oxygen etc. at more than 150 deg.C of reaction temperature. Hereby, all of thiocyanate ion, thiosulfuric acid radical, free sulfur in the waste liquid, are converted to sulfuric acid radical. By the above method, good conversion rate is able to obtain at about 5 ppm of copper concentration and low reaction temperature. Gas is separated from liquid in the waste liquid after treatment and waste gas is discharged in the atmosphere. Liquid is discharged as it is, because COD and copper ion concentration, are low.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To utilize the heat energy effectively, solve environmental problems and obtain the titled fibers of high quality, by bringing an atmospheric gas generated in the flameproofing step of organic fibers for carbon fibers into contact with a specific metallic catalyst, and recirculating and reusing the gas. CONSTITUTION:Organic fibers 9 for carbon fibers, preferably acrylic fibers, are fed to a flameproofing furnace body 1, oxidized in an atmosphere usually containing oxygen, e.g. air, at 200-350 deg.C, and the atmospheric gas containing oxides of textile oiling agents generated by the treatment is passed through an oxidative decomposition catalytic bed 6 consisting of Cr, Mn, platinum, iron, copper and/or Pd, provided in a circulating line of the flameproofing furnace body 1 by a fan 3. The gas is then passed through a heater 5 and duct 4, and returned to the furnace body 1 for reuse to give the aimed fibers 10. The catalyst is preferably supported on a porous inorganic substance, e.g. silica, and the catalyst is preferably CuO, Pt, etc. particularly MnO2.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To recover high-purity ammonium sulfate and decrease COD and NH4-H in drained water, by adding Cu (compound) and ammonia water to a coke-oven gas desulfurization waste liquid so that the copper concentration becomes a prescribed value and by causing wet oxidation under a limited condition and concentrating a reaction liquid separated from a gas. CONSTITUTION:Cu (compound) 4 and NH35 are added to a coke-oven gas desulfurization waste liquid 1 and diluting water 2 in a storage vessel 3 so that the copper concentration of the waste liquid becomes 0.1-50ppm. The pressure of the waste liquid is raised by a boosting pump 6. After a gas 8 containing O2 is compressed at 7 and introduced into the waste liquid, the liquid is conducted to a wet oxidation column 9. Wet oxidation is caused by the O2-containing gas at a temperature of 150 deg.C or more while a portion of water is kept liquid. The waste liquid is separated from a gas at 10. The exhaust gas is washed at 11 and then released at 12. The separated solution is introduced into a crystallization vessel 13 and heated to remove moisture 14. The concentrated liquid is conducted to a separator 15 so that drained water 18 is separated. Ammonium sulfate separated from the liquid is dried at 16 at that high-purity ammonium sulfate 17 is recovered.
