Abstract: A method for biologically purifying waste water which produces substantially no excess waste sludge is provided. In this method, a waste water containing biodegradable substances is treated in a biological fixed film type reactor and aqueous water sludge discharged from the reactor is aerobically digested after being separated from the biologically treated waste water. The digested aqueous sludge is returned to the reactor or the upstream thereof. This method can be advantageously combined with any installed activated sludge type water purification process, to thereby substantially eliminate the production of excess waste sludge from the water purification system.

Abstract: A solid-liquid separation element which remarkably, improves the solid-liquid separation capacity of a solid-liquid separation device having the separation element therein is provided. In this separation element, guide members for accelerating the through-flow of the liquid are mounted on the back surface of a stationary inclined screen and, optionally, guide members for transporting solid materials are arranged on the surface of the screen so as to be substantially in parallel to each other and in a downward inclining direction from both edges of the screen. The solid-liquid separation apparatus having said separation element and a cleaning brush which is reciprocated in rubbing contact with the back surface of the screen is also provided. The range of the reciprocating motion of the brush is more than the width of the screen.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To uniformly place a muddy solid-liquid mixture flowing down from a flowing-down plate on filter cloth and to smoothly progress solid-liquid separating treatment by forming the flowing-down plate into descending slope toward the circumferential direction of the filter cloth and also downward curving the flowing-down plate and forming a solid-liquid guiding face projected upward in the width direction of the filter cloth. CONSTITUTION: In a flowing-down plate 42, a sludge flowing part 51 continues in such a shape that it is connected to the tip of a narrow sludge introduction part 50. The flowing face of the sludge flowing part 51 is formed into a sectoral shape widened toward the traveling direction of filter cloth 2. The whole is formed into descending slope along the traveling direction of the filter cloth 2 and also the center is high along the width direction of the filter cloth 2 and the sludge flowing part is formed into descending slope toward both sides. Therefore, sludge supplied to the sludge introduction part 50 flows down on the flowing face of the sludge flowing part 51 along two directions of the traveling direction and th width direction of the filter cloth 2 and is fully broadened and then flows down on the filter cloth 2. As a result, sludge is uniformly placed on the filter cloth 2.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To control the generation of trihalogenomethane by removing organic suspended substance components principally of plankton in raw water by filtering the water before oxidation treatment, in raw water in which ammonium is removed by oxidation treatment with a halogen type oxidizing agent. CONSTITUTION: In the treatment of raw water 30 of lakes and marshes, pools, etc., the water 30 is drawn up with a pump 31, and large refuse is removed by a screen 32. Next, in a coagulation treatment process A, a coagulant such as polyaluminum chloride is added into the water 30 for the coagulation treatment, and organic suspended substance components principally of plankton are removed in the next filtration treatment process B. It is preferable to remove 50wt.% or more of the organic suspended substance components 8μm or more in particle size. In the following oxidation treatment process C, ammonium compounds in the water 30 are removed by oxidation treatment with a halogen type oxidizing agent. Thereafter, the filtrate is purified through conventional processes of coagulation D, separation E, and sterilization F.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide an efficient water purifying method and device capable of executing a water purifying treatment directly on a water basin site without executing transportation, etc., of raw water from a water basin to a remote place. CONSTITUTION:A means 1 which takes in the raw water contg. contaminants from the water basin, a means 3 for filtering the raw water taken in by the means 1, a means 5 for oxidizing and sterilizing the filtered water filtered by this means 3, a means 7 for dehydrating the filtered matter in the means 3 to cake and a means for returning a part or the whole of the water purified by the means 3 or 5 to the water basin are mounted respectively on a device movable on land or water. This method and device execute the purifying treatment by the respective means by moving the moving device on the arbitrary water side or in the water basin.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance the recovery ratio of a solid component or a liquid component and to prevent the contamination of the titled apparatus by the leakage of a solid- liquid mixture, by providing a filter cloth guide plate to the vacuum suction port provided to the back surface side of filter cloth in opposed relation to the seal piece mounted to the bottom part of the solid-liquid supply frame provided to a solid-liquid supply part. CONSTITUTION:A solid-liquid supply frame 7 is provided to a solid-liquid supply part 6 and a seal piece 8 is mounted to the bottom part of the solid-liquid supply frame 7 and a filter cloth guide plate 13 is provided to the vacuum suction port 11 of the vacuum suction tank 12, which is provided to the back surface side of the endless filter cloth 1 provided on a definite track so as to be freely running and turning around to one direction, in opposed relation to said seal piece 8. By this method, the leakage of a supplied solid-liquid mixture from the solid-liquid supply frame 7 can be prevented and not only the recovery ratio of a solid component or a liquid component is enhanced but also the contamination of the apparatus by leakage can be prevented. Further, because a filter cloth guide roll 14 is provided to the residual part, where the filter cloth guide plate 13 is not arranged, of the vacuum suction port 11, damage of the filter cloth 1 hardly occurs.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To develop filter cloth excellent in solid-liquid separation capacity, in dehydrating and filtering a solid-liquid mixture by endless filter cloth, by using a material formed as a filter layer by laying down extremely fine fiber nap to the surface of a fabric base material as the filter cloth. CONSTITUTION:A solid-liquid mixture 6 is placed on endless filter cloth 1 and, after moisture is filtered under suction by a vacuum suction machine 9, the residual liquid is squeezed by a press roll 5 and a transfer roll 4 to transfer the solid component to the surface of the transfer roll 4. This solid component is scraped off and recovered by a scraper 7 and the residual solid component is washed off by sprayed water 8. As the endless filter cloth used at this time, a filter layer is formed by laying down extermely fine fiber nap with a thickness of 0.1-10mum formed by napping base material, which has belts 2, 3 with perforations at the edge parts thereof and comprises a fabric or knitted fabric made of a synthetic fiber, to the surface of said base material. In this case, the kind of the base material or a napping length is adjusted so as to set the close adhesiveness index of the surface of the filter layer to 0.3-4.5.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To attain to enhance solid-liquid separation efficiency or transfer property, by raising the surface of a fabric or a knitted fabric to cover the same with an extremely fine fiber with a thickness of 0.1-10mum having directionality. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a base material such as a fabric or a knitted fabric made of a synthetic fiber is raised to cover the surface thereof with an extremely fine fiber with a thickness of 0.1-10mum and a filter layer is formed of said raised fiber. As the fabric, a satin fabric is pref. and a weft yarn is raised to a warp yarn direction. As the knitted fabric base material, a circular knitted fabric base material, a circular knitting fabric or a warp knitting fabric is used and a half-knitting tricot fabric is pref. Raising is formed of needle cloth. A directionality index shown as the ratio of peeling force in a cellophane easily peeling direction and a cellophane hardly peeling direction requires 1.2-10. The base material is used as endless filter cloth wherein filter cloth is formed into an endless state and perforated belts 2, 3 are stitched thereto and this endless filter cloth is used in a belt press type dehydrator.
