Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester yarn having an X type cross section with water absorbing properties and quick-drying properties than those of a conventional yarn in use not only for silk but also for finished yarn, useful as a material for sport clothing or inner clothing by making the yarn have a specific intersection angle and a specified porosity. SOLUTION: This polyester yarn having an X type cross section has a single yarn cross-sectional shape of X type section with four leaf projection parts around the yarn in which one intersection angle θ is 95-130 degrees and the porosity of the yarn is 10-35%. The polyester yarn having an X type cross section has 10-80 modified cross section degree of four recessed parts of the single yarn cross section. The modified cross section degree of four leaf projection parts is preferably 0.7-1.5. Preferably a multifilament yarn having 10-250 mm average opening length is constituted from the high water-absorbing/quick- drying polyester yarn having an X type cross section.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester-based conjugate hollow fiber of uneven thickness, capable of being woven or knitted even it is not treated, showing polygonal, hollow fiber of uneven thickness, when treated to remove the outer layer component by dissolution, the polygonal fiber having feel of span, lightness, a specific of depth of unique luster in sparkling luster, feel of dry touch, harshness and firm texture, and suitable for woven or knitted stuff for high-class clothes. SOLUTION: This fiber is a conjugate fiber composed of two types of polyester, the outer layer component dissolving at least 5 times faster than the inner layer component, wherein the inner layer component takes a polygonal, hollow shape, with outer shape being polygonal from triangle to pentagon, e.g. that shown by (a), (b) or (c), and the inner shape substantially similar to the outer shape and having a hollowness of 10 to 40%. The fiber also has uneven thickness of 2 to 9% as U value and shrinkage of 10 to 30%, with boiling water.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject conjugated thick and thin yarn, having thick and thin parts in the longitudinal direction and a prescribed shrinkage percentage in boiling water and capable of assuming a natural surface feeling and a natural dry touch feeling and providing a high-class suede when formed into a woven or a knitted fabric and freed of a sea component by including a prescribed amount of titanium oxide in the sea component. SOLUTION: This two-component-based island-in-sea type polyester conjugated thick and thin yarn has thick and thin parts in the longitudinal direction, further 5-50 thick parts/10m as the yarn and 15-70% shrinkage percentage in boiling water. The island components (a) contain 0.5-10wt.% titanium oxide. The conjugated thick and thin yarn has thick parts having 5-60mm length as the yarn and the size of one of the island components (a) is preferably 0.05-0.5 denier.
