Abstract: This invention relates to a precursor fiber bundle for production of a carbon fiber bundle, a process for producing the precursor fiber bundle, a carbon fiber bundle produced with the precursor fiber bundle, and a process for producing the carbon fiber bundle. A percursor fiber bundle according to the invention has a fineness being in the range of from 300,000 denier to 1,500,000 denier and has a potential dividability to sub-tows each of which has a fineness being in the range of from 50,000 denier to 250,000 denier. The precursor fiber bundle is obtained by dividing a multifilament made of an acrylic copolymer spun from a spinnerette into a plurality of sub-tows, drawing the sub-tows in this state, and after that converging the sub-tows into one tow with overlapping adjacent sub-tows at a side edge portion thereof. The converging is practiced typically by passing the overlapped sub-tows through a crimping apparatus. A carbon fiber bundle according to the invention is produced by dividing the precursor fiber bundle into the sub-tows and after that treating the sub-tows by passing thereof through stabilizing and carbonizing processes.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject fiber suitable for a napped product, comprising a fiber tip part readily splittable into a small fineness, having a handle of soft touch and a volume feeling, by extruding an acrylic polymer from a spinneret hole of a specific shape into a coagulating bath comprising an organic solvent and water by wet spinning. SOLUTION: An acrylic polymer containing >=80mol% acrylonitrile is extruded from a spinneret hole of a shape, in which trapezoids have 0.02-0.05mm of a bottom side and the ratio of a top side to the bottom side of 1.3-3.0 and are bonded at the bottom sides, into a coagulating bath comprising an organic solvent such as dimethylformamide and water by wet spinning to give an acrylic modified cross section yarn having a cross-sectional shape such as Y-shape in which each end of plural flat structural branches is bonded at a bond angle of

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject synthetic yarn for absorbing NH3 , CH3 SH, H2 S, C(CH3 )3 , etc., by providing an acrylonitrile-based synthetic yarn with a specific copolymer resin, drying and densifying the yarn. SOLUTION: Itaconic acid or citraconic acid in an amount of 30-70 wt.% is copolymerized with an ester compound of (meth)acrylic acid and a polyalkylene oxide containing an alkyl etherified terminal hydroxyl group and an ester compound of (meth)acrylic acid and a polyalkylene oxide containing a terminal hydroxyl group. The hydrogen of the carboxyl group of the itaconic acid or citraconic acid is substituted with copper or zinc to form a copolymer resin. A polymer obtained by copolymerizing >=90 mol.% acrylonitrile with

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide acrylonitrile fiber which has a quality enough to be used in cement reinforcement and paper making and can smoothly pass through the manufacturing process. CONSTITUTION:This acrylonitrile fiber comprises a copolymer from less than 10 mole % of a vinyl monomer and more than 90 mole % of acrylonitrile and has 0.1-5 crimps/inch, 0.5-20 denier filament thickness, 3-30mm fiber length and higher than 3g/d strength. In the production, the spinning dope is extruded into fibers, the fibers are drawn, washed with water, crimped with a crimping machine in 5-15 crimps/inch, drawn at 2-3 draw ratio in a hot atmosphere at 60-180 deg.C and cut into staple fibers of 3-30mm length.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject fiber bundle enabling to produce desired carbon yarns having a high strength and a high elastic modulus in good productivity by maintaining the form of one two, when received in a container, and subsequently dividing the tow into plural small tows, when drawn out from the container. SOLUTION: Plural fibers are produced in a spinning process 1, and subsequently drawn and washed in a fiber-producing process 3 in a state divided into plural groups 2 each having the prescribed number of the fibers. The plural groups 8 are treated in a fishing oil-imparting process 4 and in a twisting process 5 and subsequently bundled into a tow. When the plural groups 8 are collected, the salvage parts (side end parts) of the groups 8 are weakly interlaced with each other. After treated in a drying process 6, the carbon fiber precursor bundle 10 in the form of one two is packed in a packing process 7. Thus, the packed fiber bundle 11 potentially having an ability to be divided into plural small tows in the lateral direction is obtained.
