Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a flame-retardant polyamide resin composition which comprises a specific crystalline polyamide resin, a specific polybrominated styrene and an auxiliary flame retardant thus shows excellent flame retardancy and heat resistance and gives moldings of good surface appearance. CONSTITUTION:The objective resin composition comprises (A) 100 pts.wt. of a crystalline polyamide resin which is constituted with the recurring units of formula I to formula III (R is an aliphatic group of 6 to 18C; R is an aliphatic group of 4 to 18C or m-phenylene group; (n) is an integer of 5 to 18) and contains the units of formula I or formulas I and II, as essential units, and has a melting point higher than 270 deg.C, (B) 0.5 to 60 pts.wt. of polybromostyrene which is prepared from brominated styrene, has the unit of formula IV as the major component, 1X10 to 30X10 number-average molecular weight and 2X10 to 120X10 weight-average molecular weight, and (C) 1 to 10 pts.wt. of an auxiliary flame retarant selected from antimont oxide, sodium antimonate, tin oxide, iron oxide, zinc oxide and zinc borate preferably anhydrous sodium antimonate, and, when needed, fillers.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate the formation of a specified crystalline copolyamide excellent in heat resistance, etc., and having low water absorptivity by forming a lower condensate under specified conditions and subjecting this condensate to a treatment for increasing its molecular weight. CONSTITUTION:A process for producing a crystalline copolyamide comprising hexamethylenephthalamide units (A) of formula I and hexamethyleneisophthalamide units (B) of formula II, hexamethyleneadipamide units (C) of formula III and capramide units (D) of formula IV in a comonomer ratio (by weight) of A/B, A/C or A/D in a specified range, which process comprises forming a lower condensate of a relative viscosity of 1.01-1.6 when measured in a 1% sulfuric acid solution at 25 deg.C at 150-300 deg.C and feeding a dicarboxylic acid component (e.g. terephthalic acid) in an amount 0.3-10mol%- excess over the amount which is the total of the numbers of moles of monomers of A-D, the number of moles of the dicarboxylic acid component in the form of a salt and the number of moles of the diamine component.

CONSTITUTION:10-80wt.% 6-12C lactam or aminocarboxylic acid, a polyoxytetramethylene glycol having a number-average mol.wt. of 600-2500, and an aliph., alicyclic, and/or arom. dicarboxylic acid in a molar ratio of OH of the glycol to COOH of the dicarboxylic acid of 0.9-1.1 are copolymerized to give a polyetheresteramide elastomer having a relatie viscosity of 1.2-5.0. 99.5-91wt.% polyamide is melt mixed with 0.5-9wt.% the elastomer, formed into film, biaxially oriented succesively, and thermally treated to give a 1-50mum- thick polyamide film.

CONSTITUTION:(A) 60-95wt.% saponified ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer having 25-60mol%, especially 25-50mol% ethylene content is blended with (B) 5-40wt.% polyamide having 160-215 deg.C melting point, which is an aliphatic polyamide comprising capramide as a main constituent unit, having a ratio of number of methylene groups and number of amide groups satisfying formula I, wherein an end carboxyl group content X and an end amino group content Y are adjusted to satisfy formula II by using an end modifying agent. The ratio of capramide unit in the component B is 95-55wt.%, especially 90-65wt.%.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process whereby the cycle of washing the inside of a reactor for the production of a liquid crystal polyester can be prolonged, the productivity can be therefore improved, and a high-quality polyester having excellent heat resistance can be produced. SOLUTION: This process comprises reacting a liquid-crystal-polyester-forming material containing polyester polymer pellets prepared by condensing an aromatic dicarboxylic acid with an alkylene glycol and having a logarithmic viscosity of 0.8dl/g or below and a particle diameter of 2,000μm or below. In this process, the reaction mixture is agitated so that the shear rate may be 150-1,000 (1/sec).
