Abstract: PURPOSE:A fruit juice is filtered with an untrafiltration membrane of a specifically fractionated molecular weight and the resultant juice is used as a starting material to produce stabilized bevarage having stabilized quality for a long period of time, causing very little secondary precipitation in the bevarage and showing no unpleasant odor characteristic in fruit juice. CONSTITUTION:Fruit juice of citrus or other fruits, which is clear, semiopaque or suspended, preferably clear, is filtered with an ultrafiltration membrane of cellulose, fluorine polymer or polysulfone in the range of fractianed molecular weight from 3,000 to 20,000. The resultant fruit juice is used as a starting material to produce bevarage by a customary method.

Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:Macrocyclic diesters of the formula (n is 1,2). EXAMPLE:3-Methly-2,5-dioxa-1,6-dioxocyclotetradecane. USE:A perfume improver which has a musklike smell and shows modification and increasing effects in spite of a trace amount, when it is applied to a perfume composition. PREPARATION:The polycondensation reaction between sebacic acid or its diester and propylene glycol or butylene glycol is effected and the resultant high-molecularweight polymer is depolymerized in the presence of a catalyst under high vacuum, preferably in a solvent at high temperatures, to produce the compound of the formula. When a trace amount of the resultant compound is added to a perfume composition, especially floral bouquet, the characteristic aroma harmonized and the musklike odor is emphasized, resulting in great improvement in the fragrance and increase in retention.

Abstract: PURPOSE:The catalytic hydrogenation of p-formylbenzoic ester in the presence of ammonia is conducted by using a Raney nickel catalyst which is prepared by developing a Raney alloy containing 36-44wt% of nickel to produce title compound. CONSTITUTION:A binary Raney nickel alloy of 36-44wt% nickel and aluminum is developed to form a nickel catalyst. The catalytic hydrogenation of p-formylbenzoic ester is conducted together with ammonia in an amount of 3-6 times the amount of the ester in the presence of the above Raney nickel catalyst in 5-15% by volume as the powder/weight of the ester. The Raney alloy is developed by adding the powdery alloy to an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution under controling the emission of heat, washing with water, ethanol, then anhydrous ethanol, finally centrifuging.

Abstract: A process for continuously separating, in liquid phase, fructose from a liquid feed mixture of sugars containing essentially fructose and glucose by contact with a solid sorbent of zeolite. The process utilizes a simulated countercurrent flow system wherein a liquid stream flows through serially and circularly interconnected desorption, rectification and sorption zones each zone being divided into a plurality of sections. In the zones water as desorbent is introduced into the desorption zone, the liquid feed mixture of sugars is introduced into the sorption zone, a desorption effluent is withdrawn from the desorption zone and a raffinate effluent is withdrawn from the sorption zone, and all of the points of introduction and withdrawal of the liquids are simultaneously shifted, one section at a time at predetermined intervals of time, in a downstream direction.
