    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber having high strength and sufficient elongation and dimensional stability under heat by cooling and solidifying a molten spun fiber of a polyhexamethylene adipamide having high polymerization degree, taking up the fiber at a relatively low speed and drawing the obtained intermediate oriented fiber in a plasma atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A cooling gas is blown in a cooling zone against a molten spun fiber produced from chips of a polyhexamethylene adipamide having a relative viscosity etar of >=3.0 in sulfuric acid and containing polyhexamethylene adipamide unit as >=95mol% of the recurring units of the molecular chain.
