    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form the periphery of a matrix region in a smooth form by painting out at least a part of a matrix hole around the matrix region of a phosphor screen with a black paint. SOLUTION: Matrix holes 22a corresponding to at least one trio of three-color phosphors are formed by extending rows or columns of matrix holes 22 of a stepped part 34 in a peripheral part of a matrix region. In the matrix holes 22a, their parts located outside a line 35 circumscribed on the matrix holes 22 at tips of the rows or columns adjacent to each other and constituting the periphery of the matrix region are painted out with a black paint forming a nonhole region of a black matrix layer. Therefore the matrix holes 22a on the peripheral side of the matrix region are formed into a truncated circular or half-moon like shape, and are reduced in size as they separate from the matrix hole 22 in the same row or column located at the stepped part 34.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exposure device to form a high-definition image by appropriate exposure. SOLUTION: A panel 10, the inside of which is disposed opposite to an aperture 23 of a support table 22, is provided with a light source device 24 and a sound source device 38 for the purpose of exposure. An acoustic wave causes the howling phenomenon in a shadow mask, and vibrates the shadow mask. Therefore, the sound source device 38 is placed close to the panel 10, thus vibrating the shadow mask 14 at the time of exposure with the light source device 24. For this reason, the exposure device is adjusted to uniformly create a nearly circular black matrix hole over the entirety of the panel 10. In addition, a magnetic field generator can also vibrate the shadow mask 14.

The cover glass 30 is projected toward both of the light source lamp side and a panel side and in a relation of the curvature calculated by averaging the curvature in each axial direction corresponding to each axis of the panel 1, the curvature on the panel side is larger than the curvature on the light source side.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color picture tube capable of preventing undesired light emission from a phosphor layer occurring when an electron beam collides and reflects on a sidewall of an open hole and capable of suppressing degradation of mechanical strength of a shadow mask. SOLUTION: An open hole of a shadow mask of this color picture tube is so structured that a small hole on an opposite side of a large hole on a phosphor screen side is made eccentric in a center direction of the shadow mask except at a center A of the shadow mask and an eccentricity of the small hole to the large hole is maximum at an intermediate part B between a center and a peripheral part of the shadow mask. When the quantity of eccentricity is set to be maximum at the intermediate part between the center part of the shadow mask and the peripheral part in a longitudinal direction, degradation of mechanical strength of the shadow mask is prevented, and undesired light emission from the phosphor layer occurring when an electron beam collides on a sidewall of the large hole and reflects in a phosphor screen direction is prevented so as to structure a color picture tube capable of displaying a good quality image. And particularly, an outer surface of an effective part of the panel is applied to a flat color picture tube to obtain a remarkable effect.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reel for taking up an electronic component storing carrier tape which prevents the outer peripheral part of the reel from warping without depending on the number of stored electronic components to enable a reduction in bending stress applied to the electronic components and in an amount of use of a carrier tape. SOLUTION: The reel for taking up the electronic component storing carrier tape is equipped with a core part 2 on which the carrier tape 10 separately storing a plurality of electronic components is wound, and a pair of flanges 1 which hold the core part 2 at its both sides to fix the core part 2. The core part 2 held between the flanges 1 is variable in diameter. An adaptor for enlarging the diameter of the core part 2 is fitted removably on the core part 2, which is one method of making the core diameter variable. The core part 2 is so structured as to be fitted removably on the flanges 1 so that the core part 2 is removed from the flanges 1 to allow the electronic components first wound around the core part 2 to be taken out first.
