SOLUTION: Joining bead workings 44a to 44d for joining long side walls 41a and 41b to short side walls 41C and 41d through side walls 41c and 41d are applied near the corners of a bottom surface 43, and the longitudinal direction of the joining beam workings is positioned generally orthogonal to a diagonal axis passing corner walls near the joining beads. Thus, an excellent impact resistance can be provided.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of mislanding even when the ambient temperature is changed by welding the skirt section of a shadow mask main body and the side wall section of a frame at positions near the major axis between the diagonal axes and the major axis, and forming notches weakening the rigidity in the minor axis direction of the frame near the weld points. SOLUTION: A shadow mask main body 29 is made of a small-thermal expansion material such as invar having the thermal expansion coefficient of 1/2 or below that of iron, and a frame 31 is made of an iron material such as a cold rolled steel sheet. When notches 33 are formed on the short side wall sections 30 of the frame 31 near the weld points near the major axis between diagonal axes and the major axis and welded, the rigidity in the minor axis direction of the short side wall sections 30 near the weld points can be weakened. The minor axis direction component of elongation is absorbed by the deformation of the frame 31 near the weld points, and the deformation of the effective face 26 of the shadow mask main body 29 is prevented. When the ambient temperature is increased or decreased, the same effect is obtained, and the deterioration in color purity is prevented.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color picture tube and its manufacturing method wherein a shape as a whole set is made down-sized as much as possible even if an image plane itself has become larger when it is assumed that the whole set becomes large-sized because mounting fittings for the color picture tube to be mounted in a case body also become larger, accompanied with a large-sizing and flattening of the color picture tube. SOLUTION: By the mounting fittings 21 of the color picture tube 22 being positioned in the inside of a block sectioned by a tangential extension lines of respective sides of a face panel 11, a spatial distance between the color picture tube 22 and the case body 31 is made as small as possible. As a means for this, when a mounting fittings 21 is formed, a lug piece 38 and a stationary piece 40 are press-molded in a nearly right angle, and a through-hole 39 is drill-installed and formed in the lug piece 38 afterwards.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color picture tube capable of preventing undesired light emission from a phosphor layer occurring when an electron beam collides and reflects on a sidewall of an open hole and capable of suppressing degradation of mechanical strength of a shadow mask. SOLUTION: An open hole of a shadow mask of this color picture tube is so structured that a small hole on an opposite side of a large hole on a phosphor screen side is made eccentric in a center direction of the shadow mask except at a center A of the shadow mask and an eccentricity of the small hole to the large hole is maximum at an intermediate part B between a center and a peripheral part of the shadow mask. When the quantity of eccentricity is set to be maximum at the intermediate part between the center part of the shadow mask and the peripheral part in a longitudinal direction, degradation of mechanical strength of the shadow mask is prevented, and undesired light emission from the phosphor layer occurring when an electron beam collides on a sidewall of the large hole and reflects in a phosphor screen direction is prevented so as to structure a color picture tube capable of displaying a good quality image. And particularly, an outer surface of an effective part of the panel is applied to a flat color picture tube to obtain a remarkable effect.

A protrusion T is set at either the tip of the stud pin or an opposing face of the holder opposite to the tip of the stud pin, and a recess K is set at the other, so that, the mask frame is supported by the stud pin through the holder by engagement of the protrusion T and the recess K.
