Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent various coloration phenomena (blackening) causative of the degradation of the life or quality of a fluorescent lamp, prevent the coloration under a high bulb wall loading, and provide a fluorescent lamp resistant to degradation of luminous flux. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of a phosphor are deposited 0.01-3.0wt.% covering particles. The covering particle is a mixed or complex oxide comprising aluminum oxide and at least one oxide selected from the group consisting of magnesium oxide, calcium oxide, strontium oxide, barium oxide. and zinc oxide. A fluorescent lamp has a fluorescent film 2 at least contg. phosphor particles covered with the covering particles.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To lower the voltage at the time of starting discharge by forming the film of metal oxide on the surface of three-wave length light emission type rare earth fluorescent body, and setting charge quantity per a predetermined weight of the fluorescent body at the time of contact to the reduced iron powder having a specific particle diameter at a predetermined muC or more in red, green and blue group of the fluorescent body. CONSTITUTION:Transparent conductive film 5 such as tin oxide is formed on the inner surface of a bulb 1, and fluorescent body film 6 is formed on the surface of the film 5. MgO powder is adhered to the surface of the fluorescent body powder 10 of three-wave length light emission type rare earth fluorescent body to change the charged tendency to the positive direction at the time of contact of the fluorescent body to the reduced iron powder having a predetermined particle diameter. At this stage, red group fluorescent body Y2O3: Emu blue group fluorescent body BaMg2Al16O27: Emu, and green group fluorescent body are adhered to (Re, Tb, Ce) (P, Si)O4 (Re means rare earth element) at 0.2weight% respectively, and charged quantity against the red and blue group is set at OmuC or more, and charged quantity against the green group is set at +1.5muC or more. Voltage at the time of starting discharge is thereby lowered.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide rapid start type fluorescent lamp, in which yellowing of a fluorescent body layer and blackening of EC film are prevented. CONSTITUTION:In a rapid start type fluorescent lamp, a transparent conductive film 5 and a fluorescent body layer 6 are formed on the inner surface of a bulb 1, and mercury and rare gas are sealed in the bulb 1. The fluorescent body forming the fluorescent body layer 6 is charged with electric charge at -0.5-+1.5 micro coulomb per 1g of the fluorescent body at the time of contact to the reduced iron powder having a particle diameter at 74-44mum. Since charged tendency is controlled, adsorption of the fluorescent body and mercury and adsorption of the fluorescent body and mercury compound are controlled to prevent yellowing of the fluorescent body and blackening of the EC film.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify the process and improve the quality of a product by forming metal molds so as not to generate portions required to be cut off after molding in the process to mold the heated and softened glass with the metal molds. CONSTITUTION:A heated and softened large-diameter glass tube 1 is press- molded by split metal molds 3 and 3. A continuous wall 8 is formed between two legs of the U-shaped discharge path 7 of the glass bulb 6 to hold the strength, but the upper end section 13 of the continuous wall 8 must be cut off from the continuous wall 8 to seal mounts 14 and 14. A punching projection 20 and a punching hole 1 are formed on the metal molds 3 and 3 so that the upper section 13 of the continuous wall 8 does not appear. The cutting process of the upper section 13 is not required and the deformation and strength deterioration of this portion resulting from the cutoff is prevented as compared with the case that this upper section 13 has a glass wall and must be cut off.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent thermal deformation of a bulb and thermal deterioration of phosphor coating film by forming a protection layer made of a metallic oxide between the inside surface of the bulb and the phosphor coating film. CONSTITUTION:Bulbs 8, 9 with their inside surfaces coated with a phosphor coating film 12 and made of a soft glass are joined or sealed by the use of glass-based adhesive of joining work temperature of 500-600 deg.C. In this case, a protective layer 20 made of a heat conductive metallic oxide is formed between the inside surfaces of the bulbs 8, 9. Namely, when the glass bulbs 8, 9 are joined or sealed, the heat applied to the end portions of the bulbs 8, 9 is transmitted by the protective layer 20 formed on the inside surfaces of the bulbs 8, 9 by the effect of heat conduction to the other parts of the bulbs 8, 9 to restrict excessive temperature rise at the end portions of the bulbs 8, 9. This arrangement not only prevents the bulbs 8, 9 from thermally deforming but also prevents a phosphor coating film 12 from thermally deteriorating.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate the thermal distortion of glass bulbs and prevent the occurrence of cracks by coating a metal connecting member connecting the bulbs to each other with synthetic resin or ceramic. CONSTITUTION:The outer surface of a connecting member 10 hermetically connecting U-shaped bulbs 8, 9 is coated with a coating member 20 made of synthetic resin or ceramic. The member 20 is formed integrally with a partition board 4 made of ceramic and supporting electrodes 13a, 13b. When a lamp is turned off, the heat radiation of the member 10 is restricted, the cooling speed is slowed down, the difference of the cooling speed between the glass bulbs 8, 9 and the connecting member 10 is decreased, the thermal distortion due to the difference of the thermal expansion coefficient is decreased, and the occurrence of cracks is prevented.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of molding strain or the like, by forming a hollow ditch in a partition wall of a mold and forming a continuous wall into tubular form, when a glass valve for tube and ball having a curved discharge route and having the continuous wall between walls of the adjacent discharge route is molded under pressure. CONSTITUTION:A U-shaped molding face 3 and partition wall 4 dividing the molding faces 3 and 3 at a center part in one pair of molds 2 and 2 are provided and hollow ditches 10 and 10 are formed at the faces placed opposite to the partition wall 4 at the same time. Then a straight glass tube 1 having large diameter is heated and softened and pressed by one pair of molds 2 and 2 and each corresponding side wall of the glass tube 1 is pressed by the partition wall. Then an air under pressure is sent into the glass tube 1 in such a state and blow molding is carried out. Thus the aimed glass valve for tube and ball having the U-shaped discharge route 6 and the tubular and continuous wall 7 formed by the partition wall 4 and hollow ditch 10 between the walls of the adjacent discharge route 6 is obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To check occurences of liver brown opaque phenomena even with an attempted high output generation with lighting at over a specific electric discharge load, by forming a protective layer containing a specific metallic oxide which adheres to the inner surface of a bulb. CONSTITUTION:In the case of a low pressure mercury vapor electric discharge lamp which controls an electric discharge path with a bulb 7 consisting of glass containing an alkaline metallic oxide and is further placed under a condition where if is lighted by an electric discharge load over 0.4W/cm per 1cm of electric discharge length, a protective layer 10 containing at least one kind of metallic oxide out of metallic oxides in a group and groups through of the periodic table of elements is stuck to an inner surface of the bulb 7. The protective layer 10 checks mercury ion from immersing into a wall thickness of a glass wall, thus preventing its bonding with an alkaline metal, a material constituting the bulb 7. Thus, a high output and a long life can be realized since occurences of liver brown opaque phenomena are checked even when the discharge lamp is lighted by an electric discharge load over 0.4W/cm per lcm of electric discharge path length.
