Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable gateway device for improving the performance of communications utilizing a transport layer connection provided by setting up the transport layer connection between a wire terminal and a radio terminal in a form suitable for an application without changing implementation of the transport layer of a terminal connected to a wire network. SOLUTION: The gateway device for relay connecting the radio network and the wire network determines whether the transport layer connection between a radio terminal connected to the radio network and a terminal connected to the wire network is set up in two-divided forms of the transport layer connection for communication with the wire network and the transport layer connection for communication with the wire network or a message passes through not by way of the division connections according to types of applications known from a transport layer protocol data unit for requesting setting up of the transport layer connection between the terminals. SOLUTION: A 1st media access control identifier is allocated to a radio terminal 200 having made a request for connection (104), the correspondence between this identifier and the terminal is reported (102), and information addressed to the correspondent radio terminal is transmitted in the time slot corresponding to the identifier (105). Further, a 2nd media access control identifier is assigned to a multicast IP address that multiple radio terminals are wished to receive (104), the correspondence between the identifier and address is transmitted (102), and information that the radio terminals are wished to receive is transmitted in the time slot corresponding to the identifier (105).

SOLUTION: In a gateway device 900 for performing a trunk connection between a radio network and a wire network, it is decided whether a transport layer connection between the terminals is set by dividing into a transport layer protocol connection for communication with the radio network and the transport layer protocol for communication with the wire network or is passed not by way of the division connection, in accordance with kinds of application known from a transport layer protocol data unit for requesting a set of the transport layer connection between a connection terminal of the radio network and the connection terminal of the wire network.

The operation supporting server 7 inspects validity of an electronic seat reservation ticket, a ticket, an necessary electronic express train ticket. The train crew transmits the inspection result from the operation terminal 7 to the operation portable terminal 8 to be carried at hand for inspecting a ticket on board the train more efficiently. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer a packet including a payload, on which data having error durability are placed, in a radio environment by applying a first error correcting system to a part of plural packet segments and applying a second error correcting system different from the first system to the remaining segments. SOLUTION: The first error correcting system is applied to at least a part of plural packet segments and the second error correcting system different from the first error correcting system is applied to the remaining packet segments. Namely, a strong correcting code is loaded to the part including header parts 302-306 so that the errors generated on a radio transmission line can be almost completely removed. Besides, a weak error correcting code is loaded to a payload part (MPEG4 video 301) and even when a little error is left in the MPEG4 video part, the original error durability of the MPEG4 video can be effectively utilized.

SOLUTION: Mobile correspondence router devices (MSR) 220 and 221 are connected to an IP terminal 225 via a gateway(GW) 223 and the internet 224 and perform switching processing of an ATM cell with plural radio base stations. Also, the MSRs 220 and 221 each has functions, such as the management and storage of positional information, paging start and response, control of the detection and execution, etc., of responses, hands-off start decision processings, executions, etc. When the MSRs 220 and 221 detect that a mobile terminal 201 moves among radio base stations 202, 203 and 211, each stored information is updated. Thus, it is possible to perform hands-off control faster than an internet system.
