Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a new compound useful as an agricultural and horticultural fungicide having excellent fungicidal activity and a herbicide having excellent herbicidal activity, free from phytotoxicity to crops such as rice, wheat and corn and having high safety. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula I (X and Z are H, halogen, lower alkyl, etc.; Y is S or O; R and R are H or lower alkyl; A and B are CH or N; R is H when R is H), e.g. N-methyl-2-(N'-methylphenylthiocarbamoyloxy) acetanilide. The compound of formula wherein R is H can be produced e.g. by reacting 1 equivalent of a compound of formula II with 1-10 equivalent of a compound of formula III at 20-100 deg.C for several min to 48hr. Another compound of formula wherein R is lower alkyl is produced e.g. by reacting 1 equivalent of a carbamoyl chloride of formula IV with 1-10 equivalent of a compound of formula III under the condition same as the production condition of the compound of R =H.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a herbicide composition having prolonged action and safe to paddy rice by combining a specific thiadiazole derivative with 2-chloro-2',6'- diethyl-N-(2-propoxyethyl or butoxymethyl)acetanilide. CONSTITUTION:The objective herbicide for paddy field is produced by combining (A) 2-chloro-2',6'-diethyl-N-(2-propoxyethyl)-acetanilide and/or 2-chloro-2',6'- diethyl-N-(2-butoxymethyl)-acetanilide with (B) one or more kinds of thiadiazole derivatives of formula [X is H or halogen; Y is halogen; A is H, COR1 (R1 is alkyl, cycloalkyl or phenyl), etc.]. Remarkable synergistic effect can be attained by the combination of the active components. The herbicide is a highly selective herbicide exhibiting high herbicidal effect on various weeds, free from phytotoxicity against transplanted paddy rice and having high safety.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an agricultural chemical composition good in diffusivity in water when thrown in paddy field without any practical problems by blending an active ingredient of an agricultural chemical with a water-immiscible organic solvent, a surfactant, a carbonate and a solid acid in a specific composition. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is a solid agricultural chemical composition for paddy field composed of an active ingredient of an agricultural chemical such as a herbicide, a germicide, an insecticide or a plant growth regulator, a water-immiscible organic solvent such as xylene, ethylbenzene or chlorobenzene, a surfactant (e.g. an anionic or a nonionic surfactant), a carbonate such as sodium carbonate and a solid acid such as citric acid or succinic acid. The composition is applied in an amount of 200-1500g for 10 ares and 5-50 pieces of application for 10 ares. The composition has good diffusivity in water when thrown in the paddy field regardless of the kind or content of the active ingredient. Treatment marks of soil surface with the chemical around the point where it is thrown in can be more reduced. If the treatment marks are formed, they diffuse in a short time without remaining thereafter. There is hardly any difference in pharmacodynamic effects between the point where the composition is thrown in and distant points.

The compound of formula I can be prepared into a form such as an emulsifiable concentrate, a wettable powder, an oil solution, a granule or a dust and is useful for weeds such as barnyardgrass, false pimpernel, spike-flowered rotala, long stemmed waterwort, smallflower umbrella-plant, slender spikerush, bulrush or water nutgrass.
