    Abstract: HYDANTOIN DERIVATIVES AND PROCESS FOR PREPARING THE SAME Novel hydantoin derivatives disclosed in the present application are represented by the formula wharein, R1 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group of from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an allyl group, a cyclohexyl group, a benzyl group or a group (where R2 is an alkyl group of from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group of from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a halogen atom or a nitro group, and n is 0, 1, 2 or 3), X1 is an alkoxycarbonyl group of from 2 to 5 carbon atoms, a benzoyl group, an aliphatic acyl group of from 2 to 5 carbon atoms or a cyano group, and Y is an alkoxycarbonyl group of from 2 to 5 carbon atoms or an aliphatic acyl group of from 2 to 5 carbon atoms. The hydantoin derivatives are useful as agricultural chemicals or intermediates thereof. There is also disclosed a process for preparing the above-mentioned hydantoin derivatives.

    Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:A 1-carbamoyl-5-fluorouracil derivative expressed by formula I [x is 4-12C alkylene or cycloalkylene: R1 is acyl; R2 is H, 1-13C alkyl, aralkyl, (halogen-substituted)-lower-alkenyl or phenyl which may have a substituent group (lower alkyl, lower alkenyl or halogen); (n) is 0-8]. EXAMPLE:1-[6-[N-(2-n-Propyl-n-pentanoyl)glycyl]amino-n hexylcarbamoyl]-5- fluorouracil. USE:An antitumor agent reduced in side effects and having strong antitumor activity. PREPARATION:5-Fluorouracil is reacted with phosgene to give 1-chlorocarbonyl 5-fluorouracil expressed by formula II, which is then reacted with a compound expressed by formula V and obtained by subjecting a compound expressed by formula III to condensation through dehydration with a compound expressed by formula IV to provide the compound expressed by formula I.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily produce high purity phosgene by reacting CO and Cl2 in the presence of phosphine sulfide or phosphine selenide as catalyst in a solvent. CONSTITUTION:In the presence of phosphine sulfide or phosphine selenide represented by formula I (where R is 1-18C straight chain or branched chain alkyl or 6-12C aryl, the group may be substituted with Cl and F, three Rs are same or different, and X is S or Se), CO and Cl2 are reacted in a solvent such as CCl4 or CHCl3 which dissolves Cl2 and the resulting phosgene and is inert to them. When CO is used in excess of Cl2, high purity phosgene is obtd. After separating gaseous phosgene the catalyst-contg. solvent is recycled.
