Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a coating using the eddy current to determine the physical properties of the coating, and its inspection method. SOLUTION: In a manufacturing method and an inspection method, a coating is deposited to determine at least one physical property of the coating using the eddy current technology. In a detailed embodiment, an abrasive seal 20 of 0.3-0.5 in metallic volumetric ratio is attached to the inside 32 in the circumferential direction of a compressor of a gas turbine engine. An eddy current probe is positioned by a manipulator. The distance between the probe and a coating surface is measured by using the frequency of at least 1 MHz. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feed back control system in which a water control system or the like are integrated, and which is usable for the removal of coatings from various works. SOLUTION: The coating removal system 10 has a stripping tank 12 in which an electrolytic solution bath stripping solution for removing a coating of at least one work 33 dipped into an electrolytic solution bath is stored, and further, an absolute potential is controlled in the at least one work 33 to a reference electrode dipped into the electrolytic solution bath. The system has a cleaning solution tank in which a cleaning solution for cleaning the work 33 after the completion of the removal of the coating from the work 33 is stored. The system has a distillation unit for purifying the electrolytic solution, and returning the electrolytic solution to the stripping tank as a purified form.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method for making porous metal plasma sprayed abradable seals. Radiation transmission techniques are utilized to determine the as-sprayed density of a deposit containing metal and polymer powder particles. Based on the measured density, a mathematical prediction is made of what the surface hardness of the sprayed deposit will be after it has been machined and then heated to remove the polymer powder particles. If the predicted hardness is outside of the desired range, changes are made in the plasma spray parameters.

In a preferred embodiment, the stripping tank, the rinse tank, and the distillation unit are mounted to a skid. The system further includes a control module. A process for using the system to remove a coating from a workpiece is also described.
