Abstract: The present invention is directed to methods for identifying one or more target genes that modulate the activation state of dendritic cells. The methods are based on transfection of a siRNA library into immature bone marrow-derived dendritic cells and detecting the activation state of said cells. The identified one or more target genes can be further validated as candidate targets for induction of self-tolerance and treatment of autoimmune diseases.
