    Abstract: A control system, for controlling a flow of wind through a wind power plant comprising a plurality of wind turbine generators, comprising: a first controller, local to the wind power plant, configured to: receive operational data relating to the wind power plant and, in 5response, to send control signals to the plurality of wind turbine generators based on an implemented wind power plant control function, and a second controller. The second controller is configured to: receive operational data from the wind power plant; train a wind power plant model using the received operational data; generate a trained wind power plant control function based on the trained wind power plant model; and transmit the 10trained wind power plant control function to the first controller. Following the transmission of the trained wind power plant control function to the first controller, the first controller is further configured to: update the wind power plant control function with the trained wind power plant control function. The invention has particular utility in the context of controlling the flow of wind through the wind power plant, for example by controlling the wake steering 15and/or axial induction factor of the wind turbines in the power plant. A complex dynamic relationship exists between the control actions of wind turbines and the resultant wind flow through the power plant which is difficult to control accurately through conventional control approaches. The invention implements a machine learning approach to improve the operational performance of the control function over time, thereby to optimise the flow of 20wind through the wind park by controlling the yaw offset/axial induction factors of the wind turbines, which may achieve improved power production.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling a yaw offset of a plurality of wind turbines. The method uses a decision function which generates an activation parameter for determining if the yaw offset control of a specific wind turbine should be enabled or disabled. The decision function depends on two or more variables comprising a wind direction variable indicative of the wind direction of the specific wind turbine, and a wind variation variable defining at least a wind variation range where yaw offset control is disabled or enabled. Based on the decision function it is determined if a yaw offset should be added to the current yaw setting of the specific wind turbine.

    Abstract: A method for controlling a first wind turbine cluster to improve wake recovery of the wind that flows through that cluster, which may therefore improve the consistency of air flow for a downstream cluster of wind turbines. The method comprises quantifying a wake effect of the first wind turbine cluster on the operational performance of a second wind turbine cluster, identifying a triggering condition based on the quantified wake effect, and, in response, controlling one or more operational parameters of the wind turbines in the first wind turbine cluster to improve the wake recovery of the first wind turbine cluster. The invention embraces a controller for a cluster of wind turbines, wherein the controller is configured carry out the method of the invention, and also to a computer program product, and to a data carrier, comprising instructions which, when executed by a computer, cause the computer to perform the method of the invention. Advantageously, improving the wake recovery of the first wind turbine cluster reduces the wake effect of the first wind turbine cluster on the second wind turbine cluster.
