Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a tool for use in a wellbore. In one aspect, a method of performing an operation in a wellbore is provided. The method includes running a selectively separable plug member accommodating a tool into the wellbore on a continuous rod. Next, a first portion of the plug member is separated from a second portion and then the continuous rod is used to position the second portion with the tool below the first portion to perform the operation. In another aspect, a method of logging a wellbore is provided. In yet another aspect, a plug assembly for use in a wellbore is provided.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for conveying and operating tools in a wellbore. The methods include running a selectively separable plug member 100 accommodating a tool 180 into the wellbore 10 on a continuous rod 175 and positioning the separable plug member 100 adjacent to a receiver member 55 disposed in the wellbore 10. The method further includes manipulating the weight of the continuous rod 175 to seat the plug member 100 in the receiver 55, or manipulating the weight of the continuous rod 175 to separate the portions of the plug 100 and then using the rod to then run a portion of the plug and the tool 180 further into the wellbore. In another aspect a selectively separable plug, comprising a first portion attached to a rod and having a plurality of rings that expand upon application of a force, a second portion, accommodating a tool, and a selectively actuatable member that allows separation of the portions upon application of a predetermined force is also provided.

Abstract: A continuous rod string 100 is fed into in a deviated wellbore 10 from delivery reel 35. Delivery apparatus 30 provides the insertion force. The delivery apparatus 30 also includes a depth encoder 25 to record the amount of string 100 within the wellbore 10 at any given time thereby determining the position of a tool 110 within the wellbore 10. Data measured and recorded by the downhole tool 110 is then correlated with the depth encoder reading thereby defining the position of the tool 110 in the wellbore 10. This information is then used to form a "log" of measured data as a function of depth within the wellbore 10 at which the data is recorded. A communication line 105, which may be electrical or fibre optic, transmits signals from or to a downhole apparatus 110 such as a logging device or pump.
