Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder capable of changing inclination of a sheet support tray on which a sheet stack is placed. SOLUTION: A sheet support tray 210 on which a sheet stack is placed is supported by two tray elevators 220, 230. Each of the tray elevators can independently make the sheet support tray 210 ascend and descend to consequently change inclination of the tray 210. It is possible to provide a paper feeder capable of corresponding to ream weight of various paper sheets, types and curls by controlling the height and the position of the stack.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder to vary acceleration for accelerating a sheet to carrier speed of the sheet to be discharged. SOLUTION: Characteristics and dimensions of sheets stacked 53 are input by a user or automatically judged. Length of the sheet to be supplied and pitch size thereby are known from this input information, and in conformity with it, how much time is required to make the sheet have carrier speed in its pitch zone is specified. An acceleration profile of a TAR400 is customized in accordance with this time. Given acceleration time is longer for what is large in mass and long in sheet length, it is possible to reduce required acceleration to a value which a motor and friction of a driving nip can cope with, consequently, it is possible to maintain size of the motor small, and it is possible to efficiently use torque of the motor to be provided without increasing cost.
