Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to statically and dynamically control height and an angle of a paper feeding tray of an electrostatic photograph printer. SOLUTION: Sensors to detect stack height of sheets are arranged at two points. A front edge positional sensor 340 which is the first sensor detects height of a stack in the neighborhood of a front edge 152 of the sheets. A stack height sensor 350 which is the second sensor detects height of the stack roughly in the neighborhood of a center of the sheets in the sheet carrier direction. A characteristic of the sheets, for example, a state of curl of the sheets can be presumed from relations of a position of a sheet support tray 210 and the stack height detected by the two sensors. The sheet support tray is ascended and descended, and inclined, and the stack is placed at a proper position in accordance with the characteristics of this state of curl, weight per unit area of the sheets input or automatically detected, etc.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder capable of changing inclination of a sheet support tray on which a sheet stack is placed. SOLUTION: A sheet support tray 210 on which a sheet stack is placed is supported by two tray elevators 220, 230. Each of the tray elevators can independently make the sheet support tray 210 ascend and descend to consequently change inclination of the tray 210. It is possible to provide a paper feeder capable of corresponding to ream weight of various paper sheets, types and curls by controlling the height and the position of the stack.
