    Abstract: An apparatus for maintaining a uniform temperature along its axis by increasing the heat transfer efficiency. The apparatus uses a sealed chamber containing a substantially pure working fluid in a two phase (liquid and vapor) condition. The vaporization and condensation of the fluid increases the heat transfer efficiency and tends to equalize temperature gradients in a body in contact with the apparatus. The apparatus is utilized in various locations in an electrophotographic printing machine and can be used as a pressure roll for a heat and pressure fuser, a support or drive roll for a photoreceptive member, a support member for a photoreceptor and a heat sink for a developer housing.

SOLUTION: A software means 550 contains a software object 560 which determines a first angle (ϕ), a second angle (θ), a distance (d), and a pressure of the air knife, when compiled. The software means 550 can be also used for generating a set of commands for performing front edge acquisition and positioning the air knife 250 at an optimum position for a medium and a fixing roll. A storage device concretely holds an object or a module for determining an optimizing parameter if given with an acquired setoff parameter from a user or a detection device. When software determines the optimizing parameter, a control signal 50 is generated so that the air knife 250 may be positioned at the optimum position of the job and the medium adopted by the job.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrying device capable of coping with a problem in a conventional carrying device wherein a sheet discharged from a fusing station is hot. SOLUTION: A carrying channel 32 is formed to feed a sheet S from a place where a sheet temperature is high in a copying machine to another place on the downstream side of the place. Several air drag coolers 10 are installed in the carrying channel 32, and its plenum 14 is connected to an air flow source through an inlet manifold 20. The air drag coolers 10 are allowed to communicate with the carrying channel 32 through an opening, for example, a slot 26 extending along the crosswise direction of the sheet in the carrying direction disposed between the inlet and the outlet of the sheet carrying channel 32. The sheet S fed into the carrying channel 32 is first fed along the sheet carrying direction and cooled by an air flow fed into the carrying channel 32 by the air drag coolers 10 through the slot 26.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus to remove fibers and fine particles(debris) in the vicinity of the nozzles of a print head.
    SOLUTION: The apparatus includes a print head protector 50 surrounding the print head, and has a first slot 60, a second slot 62 surrounding the first slot 60 and wider than the first slot. A positive pressure air supply source is connected to a suction port 64 communicating with the first slot, and an outlet 66 communicating with the second slot is connected to a negative pressure source. Air from the suction port 64 flows externally as if to separate from the print head through the first slot 60, eliminates fibers and fine particles (debris) from paper approaching the print head. The debris is captured by a negative pressure near to the second slot 62 and is removed from a printer through the outlet 66.
