Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a general purpose system for exchanging information between a module and a device around the periphery of a printer/duplicator. SOLUTION: A panel board 30 executes a mutual operation with a memory device called CRUM(customer replaceable unit monitor) which is specified for coupling with one or plural customer replaceable modules in a device. An electrophotography module 10 and a fixing module 12 are designed to be customer replaceable so that each of them can be taken off from the device as it is, then it can be replaced to another one of the same kind. A customer can buy or lease the individual module, if necessary in order to replace it therewith. The electrophotography module 10 is coupled with a CRUM 11 and the fixing module is with a CRUM 13. Integral purpose of the CRUM 11 and CRUM 13 is for holding information about an operational condition and a using situation of the module in the device. The held data is periodically updated and the data is maintained even when the module is removed from the device.
