Abstract:
A diagnosing apparatus for diagnosing an accumulator operable to store under pressure a pressurized fluid delivered from a high-pressure source and to supply the pressurized fluid to a fluid-operated actuator for operating the fluid-operated actuator, the apparatus including a pressure detecting device for detecting a pressure of the pressurized fluid in the accumulator while the accumulator is placed in a fluid-tightly sealed state in which the accumulator is isolated from both the high-pressure source and the fluid-operated actuator, and a diagnosing device operable to diagnose the accumulator on the basis of the pressure of the pressurized fluid detected by the pressure detecting device in the fluid-tightly sealed state of the accumulator.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A method for diagnosing leaks in a hydraulic accumulator includes measuring the time required to discharge the hydraulic accumulator to determine an actual discharge duration. The method includes comparing the actual discharge duration to an expected discharge duration to generate a condition indicator. The condition indicator correlates to the presence or absence of a leak.
Abstract:
A pressure vessel comprises an enclosure in which are a liquid orifice and a gas orifice spaced from the liquid orifice. A separator divides the enclosure into two variable volume chambers. One of these is a liquid chamber communicating with the liquid orifice and the other is a gas chamber communicating with the gas orifice. The separator has a transverse wall spaced from the gas and liquid orifices and movable inside the enclosure. There is an orifice in the enclosure communicating with the gas chamber through which there is passed into the gas chamber a sensor which is responsive at one end to the presence of a liquid. In a neutral position of this transverse wall the responsive end of the sensor is nearer the transverse wall than it is to the orifice in the enclosure through which it passes into the gas chamber. The sensor preferably comprises an optical probe.
Abstract:
A failure sensing accumulator device and to a system embodying the same. The accumulator and system are characterized in that various failure situations are sensed by a capacitive sensor apparatus which is capable of detecting failures at an early stage and localizing the damage to the system resulting from such failed accumulator.
