Abstract: As described above, one or more aspects of the present disclosure provide articles having structural color, and methods of making articles having structural color. The article includes the optical element including one or more layers. The surface of the article can include the optical element with regions that impart different structural colors. The different structural colors imparted are due at least in part to the different structure (e.g., transverse cross-sectional structure) of the optical element in certain regions.

Abstract: Die Erfindung betrifft ein Messsystem für die polarisationsunabhängige Vermessung einer Lichtquelle, mit einer eine Vielzahl von matrixförmig angeordneten Bildsensoren (12) aufweisenden Kamera (5) und einer Mikroskopoptik (M) sowie ein Verfahren zur polarisationsunabhängigen Vermessung der Lichtquellen. Es ist Ziel der Erfindung, eine verbesserte und einfache sowie weitestgehend polarisationsunabhängige Messung der Lichtleistung der Lichtquelle unter Erhaltung der Ortsauflösung im mikroskopischen Bereich zu ermöglichen. Hierzu schlägt die Erfindung vor, dass den Bildsensoren (12) jeweils ein linearer Polarisator (13) zugeordnet ist, wobei die linearen Polarisatoren (13) matrixförmig vor den Bildsensoren (12) angeordnet sind und zwei oder mehr, vorzugsweise vier Polarisatoren (13) einen Matrixblock (13a) bilden, wobei die Durchlassrichtungen nebeneinanderliegender linearer Polarisatoren (13) innerhalb eines Matrixblocks (13a) relativ zueinander verdreht sind, vorzugsweise um 45° oder um 90°. Bei dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren werden die Messsignale der Bildsensoren (12), die den Polarisatoren (13) desselben Matrixblocks (13a) zugeordnet sind, in Lichtleistungsmesswerte umgewandelt, um die gewünschte Polarisationsunabhängigkeit zu erhalten.

The optical element can have different sections that have different relative thicknesses. For example, a first section of the optical element disposed on the first area of the article can have a first average thickness and a second section of the optical element disposed on the second area can have a second average thickness.
