    Abstract: A receptacle connector for two types of plug includes an insulative housing defining a front mating port and a rear connecting port along the front-to-back direction, the front mating port defining a plurality of upper passageways and a plurality of lower passageways with a receiving slot therebetween in the vertical direction, the upper passageways being respectively offset from the corresponding lower passageways in a transverse direction. An IMLA (Insert Molded Lead-Frame Assembly) assembled within a space of the rear connecting port and including a plurality of wafers stacked with one another along the transverse direction, each of said wafers including an insulator equipped with a front upper contact disposed in the corresponding upper passageway, a rear upper contact located behind the corresponding upper passageway, a front lower contact disposed in the corresponding lower passageway, and a rear lower contact located behind the corresponding lower passageway.

    Abstract: A plug connector mateable with the receptacle connector, includes an insulative housing enclosed in a metallic shell, defining a receiving cavity to receive the mating tongue, and equipped with a plurality of contacts on opposite sides in the vertical direction. A latch forms a pair of locking heads extending into two opposite lateral sides of the receiving cavity to lock with a shielding plate embedded within a mating tongue of the complementary receptacle connector during mating. The plug connector is equipped with a pair of locking screws symmetrically located by two sides of the metallic shell and aligned with the pair of locking heads in the transverse direction, and the receptacle connector is equipped with a pair of screw holes to receive the pair of locking screws in a locked manner.

    Abstract: A receptacle includes an insulating housing including a base and a mating tongue, upper contacts and lower contacts, a metallic shell and a shielding plate. The contacts include plate contacting sections exposed upon the mating tongue. The shielding plate is disposed in the mating tongue and the base and isolated from the upper and lower contacts. The metallic shell is retained on the base and surrounding the mating tongue to define a mating port which is inserted with a plug connector in either of two insertion orientations. The front sides of the shielding plate is exposed to the front side of the mating tongue and the lateral sides of the shielding plates is exposed to the corresponding lateral sides of the mating tongue for protection under an improper angular mating of the plug connector.

    Abstract: A hybrid plug connector including an insulative housing defining a cavity to receive an optical fiber assembly therein, and a plurality of passageways to receive a plurality of terminals therein. A printed circuit board is located behind the terminals and connected to the terminals. An electrical cable is mounted to a rear portion of the circuit board. The whole optical fiber assembly is received within the housing and is somewhat back and forth moveable along a front-to-back direction for buffering for compliantly coupling with another optical fiber assembly built within the complementary receptacle connector when the plug connector is inserted into the complementary receptacle connector. An attachment shows the manufacturing process.

    Abstract: An electrical connector for use within a machine case includes an insulator and a plurality of contacts. The insulator defines opposite top and bottom surfaces thereon in a vertical direction. The contacts are retained to the insulator via an insert molding process. Each of said contacts is stamped and bent from sheet metal and unitarily formed with an upper contacting section exposed upon the top surface, and a lower contacting sections exposed upon the bottom surface. Each of said upper contacting section and said lower contacting section extends along a longitudinal direction perpendicular to both said vertical direction and said transverse direction. Each of the upper contacting section and the lower contacting section is planar and stationary. One of said upper contacting section and said lower contacting section has an outer end exposed to an exterior for originally linking to a contact carrier.
