Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a method and an apparatus for video coding. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry can decode encoding information for a block of a picture in a coded video bitstream. The encoding information indicates a position of a sub-region in the block and a position of an additional sub-region in each of at least one neighboring block of the block. A combined sub-region includes the sub-region and the additional sub-region in each of the at least one neighboring block. The combined sub-region is at a center of a combined block including the block and the at least one neighboring block. The processing circuitry can reconstruct first samples that are inside the combined sub-region using residue data of the first samples and reconstruct second samples that are outside of the combined sub-region in the combined block without residue data.

Abstract: A method of video decoding includes determining, for a current block of a picture, one of a plurality of reference lines. The method includes determining an intra prediction mode for the current block in accordance with the determined one of the plurality of reference lines. The method further includes performing intra prediction for the current block based on the determined intra prediction mode and one or more samples included in the determined one of the plurality of reference lines. The plurality of reference lines includes an adjacent reference line that is adjacent to the current block and at least one non-adjacent reference line that is not adjacent to the current block, and each of the at least one non-adjacent reference line is associated with a decreasing number of intra prediction modes with respect to a direction away from the current block.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for video encoding/decoding. Processing circuitry decodes prediction information of a block from a coded video bitstream. The prediction information is indicative of a matrix based intra prediction for the block. The processing circuitry determines entries of a vector based on neighboring samples of the block. An entry can be determined based on one or more neighboring samples of the block. The processing circuitry converts the entries into a reduced bit form with a number of bits satisfying a requirement of using a first multiplication tool that processes fewer bits than a second multiplication tool. Then, the processing circuitry multiplies, using the first multiplication tool, the entries of the vector in the reduced bit form with entries of a matrix to calculate a subset of prediction samples of the block, and determines other prediction samples of the block based on the subset.
