    Abstract: An apparatus for video decoding includes processing circuitry configured to receive a split direction syntax element, a first index syntax element, and a second index syntax element that are associated with a coding block coded with a triangular prediction mode. The coding block can be partitioned into two triangular prediction units according to a split direction indicated by the split direction syntax element. The first and second index syntax elements can indicate a first merge index and a second merge index to a merge candidate list constructed for the two triangular prediction units. The coding block can be reconstructed according to the split direction, the first merge index, and second merge index.

    Abstract: In a method for video decoding in a decoder, a first motion vector and a second motion vector for a first block in a current picture are received. The first motion vector is indicative of a first reference block in a first picture, and the second motion vector is indicative of a second reference block in a second picture. A bilateral template is generated based on a weighted combination of the first reference block and the second reference block. A refined first motion vector and a refined second motion vector are determined based on the bilateral template, reference blocks in the first picture and reference blocks in the second picture respectively. An initial motion vector of a second block that is coded after the first block is determined according to at least one of the first motion vector and the second motion vector for the first block.

The method further includes determining whether a block size of an inter coded current block in the current picture is below a block size threshold.     Abstract: In a method of video decoding in a decoder, a merge candidate list of a current coding block is constructed for processing the current coding block with a triangular prediction mode (TPM). The merge candidate list can include merge candidates each having one or two motion vectors. Each motion vector can be associated with a first reference picture list or a second reference picture list. A first motion vector and a second motion vector are determined from the motion vectors of the merge candidates on the merge candidate list. The current block is processed with the TPM with the first and second motion vectors as two motion vector predictors (MVPs) of two triangular partitions of the current coding block.

In some examples, an apparatus for video decoding includes receiving circuitry and processing circuitry. The processing circuitry decodes partition information of a block in a picture from a coded video bitstream. The partition information is indicative of a partition tree structure for a partition of the block into coding blocks. Then, the processing circuitry groups to-be reconstructed samples of the block into processing groups according to the partition of the block into the coding blocks. A shape of a combined region of a processing group is limited by constraints in the partition of the block into the coding blocks. Then, the processing circuitry reconstructs the to-be reconstructed samples of the block by multiple pipeline stages that process the processing groups in a pipeline processing manner.
