Aqueous dispersions according to the present invention include: (a) at least on anionic cellulose nitrate derivative according to the present invention; and (b) at least one base.
Abstract:
An emulsion of an organo-functional polysiloxane is prepared by emulsifying a silanol-functional polysiloxane (I) in water, adding an organofunctional silane of the formula X-A-Si(R)n(OR′)3-n(II), where X represents an organic functional group; A represents a divalent organic linkage; each R represents a hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl radical; each R′ represents hydrogen or an aklyl or acyl group; and n=′, 1 or 2, to the aqueous phase of the resulting emulsion and reacting the —OR′ groups of (II) with the silanol groups of the polysiloxane (I) to form the organo-functional polysiloxane.
Abstract:
A material is provided to give food products sufficient viscosity and stability (heat resistance, stable suspension, etc.). The material is produced from an inexpensive raw material by an economical process. Further, a novel gel containing cellulose as the main component is also provided. The present invention provides a fine fibrous water-dispersible cellulose derived from plant cell walls. For the production, a raw material having specific properties is used, and size reduction is carried out stepwise thereto. The water-dispersible cellulose can also be made into a dry composition by compounding with a water-soluble polymer or the like. This dry composition forms a gel when combined with a polysaccharide such as glucomannan or the like. The gel excels in heat-resistance and shape-retention and can be used to produce to novel food products.
Abstract:
The purpose of the invention is to provide a novel aqueous dispersion that allows high solidification and that has good adherence and gasohol resistance to polyolefin substrates even on low-temperature baking. An aqueous dispersion characterized by dispersedly containing carboxyl group-containing chlorinated propylenic random copolymer with chlorine content of 5 to 40% by weight, grafting level of α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride of 0.1 to 20% by weight and weight average molecular weight of 10,000 to 300,000, and stabilizer, a method for the production and the uses thereof.
Abstract:
A stable aqueous suspension of water-soluble polyacrylamide particles is in a saturated solution of an ammonium salt. The polyacrylamide particles are characterized by a particle size of about −150 mesh, and preferably −270 mesh, with −400 mesh most preferred. The suspension is at least about 2.5% by weight polyacrylamide. When the ammonium salt is ammonium sulfate, PAM concentrations as high as about 15% by weight can be achieved while still being easily flowable. The suspension is made by stirring the small particle PAM into the saturated ammonium salt solution. The PAM can be quickly dissolved to form a less concentrated PAM solution by adding the suspension to water or to a dilute solution, which can include calcium salts or other soil enhancers.
Abstract:
The present invention provides polyvinyl alcohol based (PVA) whose solubility in water varies with a small temperature change to a sufficiently great degree. In manufacturing a polyvinyl alcohol based polymer by: progressing a transesterification reaction of a polyvinyl ester based polymer with alcohol in a liquid reaction mixture including the polyvinyl ester based polymer, the alcohol, and a basic compound; precipitating the polyvinyl ester based polymer, at least a part of which has been transesterified with the alcohol, out of the liquid reaction mixture; and further progressing the transesterification reaction in the liquid reaction mixture including the polyvinyl ester based polymer that has precipitated, the liquid reaction mixture has a temperature of 75° C. to 150° C. when the polyvinyl ester based polymer, at least a part of which has been transesterified, starts precipitating.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an aqueous solution or dispersion with high shellac content. The aqueous shellac solution or dispersion is characterized in that it has a pH value of 2 to 4.2, and contains: 1 to 60% wt. shellac; 0.1 to 3% wt. of at least one water-soluble film former; 0.1 to 1% wt. of at least acid-resistant gel former; and water bringing the total to 100% wt. In accordance with the invention, the solution is produced by the following method: particle-shaped shellac is added to an aqueous solution and homogenized by stirring at 10 to 1500 rev/min., at a temperature of 5 to 20° C. The aqueous solution has a pH value of 2 to 4.2 and contains at least one water-soluble film former and at least one acid-resistant gel former. The shellac solution or dispersion can be used in the paint and varnish industry, the food industry and in cosmetics.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for preparing a dispersion of high grade polyester copolymer resin in water comprising 1) combining a crude polyester copolymer resin, having particles of various sizes, with water; 2) heating and agitating the resin/water mixture; 3) cooling the mixture; 4) continuously filtering the mixture to remove the largest size resin particles; 5) allowing the mixture to stand undisturbed so that any undispersed particles settle out as a sediment; and 6) removing the sediment, leaving a dispersion of the smallest resin particles in water. By using a plurality of filters and sequentially finer filter mesh sizes, a high grade product is attained.
Abstract:
A delivery system for a biocide or fertilizer comprises a body or carrier portion including a first water dispersible agriculturally inert and essentially nontoxic composition containing a predetermined amount of the biocide or fertilizer. The body or carrier portion has a predetermined size and shape. The delivery system also comprises a protective coating, about the body portion, of a second water dispersible agriculturally inert and essentially nontoxic composition. The amount of biocide used is that amount which terminates the functioning of a target agricultural pest upon application of the biocide to soil or water via the delivery system. The biocide can take the form of a biocide such as an insecticide, fungicide, nematocide or herbicide. Compositions according to the present invention including a water dispersible cellulose ether, cellulose fiber and an effective amount of a biocide or fertilizer are also described. Additional components may be added to the composition according to the present invention.
