In order to enable lamination of materials of different kinds, such as a synthetic resin plate and a glass plate, without leaving bubbles between the materials, a double sided adhesive sheet (1) is formed by forming an adhesive layer (3) cross-linked with ultraviolet light on one surface of a sheet (2) with an inorganic oxide layer (2B) and forming an adhesive layer (4) cross-linked by heating or moisture on the other surface of the sheet (2). A glass plate (6) is applied to the adhesive layer (3), and a synthetic resin plate (7) is applied to the adhesive layer (4), thereby forming a laminate panel (5).

The invention provides pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) coated articles, including tapes and transfer coatings, having microstructured surfaces and methods of making pressure-sensitive adhesive articles bearing such microstructured surfaces. The performance properties of the pressure-sensitive adhesive articles can be tailored by independently varying the microstructure and the rheological properties of the pressure-sensitive adhesive.

The present invention relates to an adhesive tape and to a method for its manufacture, the tape comprising: (A) a heat-activatable adhesive resin layer, wherein the resin is a polymer of one or more monomers selected from the group consisting of olefins, and (B) a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, comprising an acrylic-type pressure sensitive adhesive, wherein said pressure sensitive adhesive layer is permanently and directly bonded to a first major surface of said heat-activatable adhesive layer. In a continuous two-stage process for preparing solvent-free polyacrylate hotmelt pressure sensitive adhesives which is gentle on the polymer and redeploys the solvent used in the process the following steps are carried out: polymerizing a self-adhesive pressure sensitive adhesive in solution, the solvent having a low vapor pressure; continuously mixing the polymer solution with antioxidants and preheating the mixture under superatmospheric pressure without boiling it; concentrating the polymer solution to a residual solvent content of less than 0.1% by weight in a concentrating extruder under the effect of reduced pressure and elevated temperatures; condensing, collecting, and re-using the solvent stripped off in the extruder; compounding the abovementioned solvent-freed hotmelt pressure sensitive adhesive with tackifying resins, fillers, stabilizers, crosslinkers or other additives in a second extruder at a moderate melt temperature; transferring the blended solvent-free self-adhesive pressure sensitive adhesive to a downstream coating unit.

A system for installing carpet including a sheet which essentially includes a non-woven or flexible plastic backing with adhesive on both the top and bottom sides of the backing is disclosed. Release paper is placed on the adhesive on at least one side of the backing. When the carpet is ready to be installed the release paper from the side of the backing is removed so that the backing may be applied to a subfloor which may be a floor or pre-existing carpet. A carpet tile or carpet is placed on the top side of the backing. Thus, the present system provides dimensional stability to carpet tiles or carpet and to the existing floor.

Disclosed is a double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive tape having sides which differ in adhesive strength, and a method for its preparation. The double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive tape comprises at least one adhesive layer comprising a pressure-sensitive adhesive based on a chemically crosslinked polyurethane. The double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive tape is especially well-suited to adhere flexible storage media, such as CDs, CD-ROMs and DVDs, to curved, bent or creased surfaces. The double-sided pressure-sensitive is also especially well-suited for adhering customer cards and credit cards to paper.
