Abstract:
A communication apparatus which prevents one host computer from occupying the apparatus and enables a user of the host computer having sent a processing request thereto to quickly know a processing result. A connection request is accepted from one of a plurality of host computers. In response to the accepted connection request, the host computer having sent the connection request is connected, and a process requested by the connected host computer is executed. Information indicative of the connected host computer is stored. Control is performed such that a reconnection request from the host computer indicated by the stored information is accepted with priority over connection requests from other host computers.
Abstract:
A multiple control station transits a first broadcast frame including a first identifier for identifying a first host and a second broadcast frame including a second identifier for identifying a second host to a terminal station over a wireless channel using time division. The multiple control station then receives a connection request frame that requests connection with the first host or the second host from the terminal station. Arbitration is then performed so that the terminal station is connected to the first host or the second host in accordance with the first identifier or the second identifier included in the received connection request frame.
Abstract:
The disclosed embodiments provide a system that facilitates the execution of a print job. During operation, the system receives, at a printer, a signal from a portable electronic device indicating the printer has been selected for the print job. Next, in response to the selection, the system generates an output that facilitates identification of the printer by a user of the portable electronic device. The system also provides a mechanism for confirming physical access to the printer by the user. Upon confirming the physical access to the printer by the user, the system establishes a direct connection between the portable electronic device and the printer, wherein the direct connection is subsequently used by the portable electronic device and the printer to perform the print job.
Abstract:
In the case where an automatic transferable recording medium has been detected, the naming rule is changed to a naming rule according to which a filename having the next number after a number given to an image file that was recorded last time is generated, out of a plurality of selectable naming rules for generating a filename to be given to an image that is to be newly recorded.
Abstract:
An information processing apparatus includes two communication units having different communication areas from one another and a processing unit. When a mobile terminal is within the communication area of a first communication unit, the first communication unit receives setting information for establishing communication between the mobile terminal and a second communication unit, and function information indicating a function for processing substantial information including a document and/or an image to be communicated by the second communication unit. The second communication unit establishes communication with the mobile terminal based on the setting information received by the first communication unit, and communicates the substantial information to the mobile terminal. The processing unit processes the substantial information with the function corresponding to the function information received by the first communication unit.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates generally to an integrated multi-function device that is capable of both connecting to a wide area network via wired Ethernet or cellular connection and providing network connectivity to one or more devices within an internal network as part of a wireless mesh network. In some embodiments, the multi-function device may be an enhanced multi-function printing device, such as a network printer, scanner, copier, fax machine, or combination of such devices. The multi-function printing device may act as a gateway device by connecting to a WAN, such as the Internet. The multi-function printing device may further provide network access to other devices in a LAN, such as desktop and laptop computers, office telephones, cellular telephones, multimedia devices, and other printing devices, using a wireless protocol, such as the IEEE 802.11 standard.
Abstract:
Battery-powered portable scanner, comprising: a scanning unit for scanning documents and forming digital representations thereof; a processor, communicatively connected to the scanning unit and provided for controlling the scanning operation; at least a first embedded storage capabilities, each of which is communicatively connected to the processor and each of which comprises either an internal memory for internally storing the digital representations or a communication link to an external storage medium for externally storing the digital representations. The processor is provided for enabling autonomous operation without connection to a terminal. The processor may be provided with an embedded routing application which is provided for routing the digital representations to a predetermined selection among the embedded storage capabilities.
Abstract:
A scanner sharing device includes a scanner device connection terminal for a scanner device to be connected thereto, a plurality of computer connection terminals for a plurality of computers to be connected thereto, a connection switching unit selectively connecting one of the plurality of computer connection terminals with the scanner device connection terminal, and a switch control unit controlling the operations of the connection switching unit. When the scanner sharing device is in an automatic switching mode, the switch control unit maintains the connection between the computer connection terminal associated with that one computer and the scanner device connection terminal until the switch control unit receives a processing completion signal.
Abstract:
This invention can reduce the load on a recording apparatus, efficiently design the overall system, and accurately calculate a data amount recordable on a recording unit in accordance with setting change of each communication apparatus or the like. A portable remote storage transmits information on a data amount storable in the portable remote storage to digital cameras. The information on the data amount storable in the portable remote storage is based on the remaining area of a shared storage area commonly available for the digital cameras except for an exclusive storage area assigned to each digital camera.
Abstract:
A visual communication system that is suitable for use in connection with a display surface is disclosed. The system includes a camera or other data-capturing device that can be remotely positioned from the display surface. A control unit receives image data from the camera or data-capturing device and processes the image data to create an electronic image of the display surface.
