Abstract:
An object of the present invention is to solve the difficulty of entering e-mail addresses. To enter an e-mail address, the e-mail address is formed by entering a partial e-mail address with an input section and selecting a desired partial e-mail address with a selection section from a plurality of partial e-mail addresses stored in a storage section while observing a display section. Consequently, it is not necessary to enter the entire e-mail address by handwith the input section, so that this troublesome task can be eliminated.
Abstract:
An information transmitting apparatus includes: a job status management unit (e.g., a controller made up of a micro computer and other components) for managing the job statuses of transmitting information of the first and second information transmitting devices (e.g., a facsimile unit and e-mail facsimile unit); a display unit (display portion) for displaying the transmission status of jobs in each information transmitting device managed by the job status management unit; and a display controller (e.g., a controller made up of a micro computer and other components) for determining, based on the destination designated by a destination designating device (operation control portion), which transmission status of jobs of the first or second information transmitting device should be displayed on the display unit.
Abstract:
An electronic still camera for capturing images to be transferred to at least one e-mail address is disclosed. The electronic still camera includes an image sensor for capturing a plurality of images of scenes and for producing image signals representative of the corresponding scenes; an analog-to-digital converter for digitizing the image signals to produce digital images; and a removable memory card for storing a plurality of digital image files corresponding to the digital images. The electronic still camera also includes an internal memory for storing at least one digital image to be displayed and a plurality of e-mail addresses; a processor for controlling the transfer of the digital images from the removable memory card to the internal memory and for producing a utilization file; and a display coupled to the internal memory for displaying at least one digital image. The electronic still camera further includes a user interface for selecting at least one e-mail address and for scrolling through the plurality of digital images stored on the removable memory card in order to display and select particular digital images to be transferred to the selected at least one e-mail address, wherein the utilization file includes the at least one selected e-mail address and the name of at least one digital image file to be transferred to the at least one selected e-mail address and the processor stores the utilization file on the removable memory card separate from the digital image files.
Abstract:
A multifunction peripheral includes a storage unit configured to store destination book data including a plurality of destination candidates, a display unit configured to display a destination designation screen including a destination candidate display section for displaying a predetermined number of destination candidates among the plurality of destination candidates and a scroll bar corresponding to the destination candidate display section, an operation unit configured to receive operation for pointing a position in the destination designation screen, and a control unit configured to specify, based on the operation on the operation unit, a destination out of the plurality of destination candidates. The plurality of destination candidates can be classified into a plurality of groups. The display unit adds, to the scroll bar, an identification label for identifying a group of the destination candidates and displays the identification label.
Abstract:
To enable identification of a user who has transmitted image data generated by scanning by an image processing apparatus, the image processing apparatus that communicates with a chat server that performs control, based on received information indicating a talk room of the chat server, to display information indicating received image data and transmission source user information indicating a user who has transmitted the image data on the talk room includes a reading unit configured to read an image of an original document and generate image data based on the image, a designation unit configured to designate a talk room of the chat server; and a transmission unit configured to transmit the image data generated by the reading unit, information indicating the talk room designated by the designation unit and the transmission source user information to the chat server.
Abstract:
An MFP receives destination information indicating a folder in a file server from a user and can register the destination information in an address book, and the MFP determines whether a connection with a file server using the destination information can be established after destination information is received but before the destination information is registered in the address book, and notifies a user of a determination result.
Abstract:
A control method for an information processing apparatus, the control method comprising: receiving, from a first external apparatus which belongs to a different subnet of a network than the subnet of the information processing apparatus, specific information for discovering the first external apparatus using a first communication unit; accepting an instruction from a user for searching for external apparatuses; discovering, in response to accepting the instruction and receiving the specific information before accepting the instruction, one or a plurality of external apparatuses by using the specific information, wherein the discovered external apparatuses includes the first external apparatus; displaying a list of information related to the discovered external apparatus(es); and communicating, using a second communication unit, with a selected external apparatus that a user has selected from the list.
Abstract:
A network facsimile apparatus includes a transmission job accepting portion, a gateway data acquiring portion, a geographical correspondence data acquiring portion, a closest region identifying portion, and a FAX transmission requesting portion. The closest region identifying portion identifies closest geographical information from among a plurality of pieces of geographical information in geographical correspondence data corresponding to area codes of a plurality of gateway line numbers. The closest geographical information indicates a region closest to a region indicated by a piece of geographical information that corresponds to an area code of the destination line number set in the FAX transmission data. The FAX transmission requesting portion transmits the FAX transmission data, via the network, to a FAX gateway to which a gateway address corresponding to the closest geographical information has been assigned, and requests a FAX transmission to be performed via the public line based on the FAX transmission data.
Abstract:
In a communication system, an image forming apparatus sends an address of a receiving section to an external device. The external device receives a selection of image data through plural thumbnails displayed on a display section, and wirelessly sends the selected image data to the image forming apparatus with the address. The image forming apparatus receives the selected image data sent with the address by the external device, and prints an image based on the selected image data. The image forming apparatus accepts a selection indicating whether a communication between the external device and the image forming apparatus is performed by a first communication system method or a second communication system method. The image forming apparatus performs sending and/or receiving the image data with the address by the first communication system method when the first communication system method is selected, and performs sending and/or receiving the image data with the address by the second communication system method when the second communication system method is selected.
