Abstract:
COMPOSITIONS SUBSTITUTED WITH IODINE, WITH EITHER BROMINE OR CHLORINE, AND WITH EITHER ALKOXY, ACYLOXY, OR HYDROXY GROUPS ARE PREPARED BY ADDING A MIXTURE OF IODINE AND EITHER BROMINE OR CHLORINE OR IBR OR ICL TO ALPHA-OLEFINS IN THE PRESENCE OF ALCOHOLS, CARBOXYLIC ACIDS, OR WATER. LUBRICATING COMPOSITIONS USEFUL FOR LUBRICATING HIGH TEMPERATURE ALLOYS ARE PREPARED BY ADDING SUCH COMPOUNDS TO OILS OF LUBRICATING VISCOSITY.
Abstract:
A highly corrosion resistant lubricating grease cmposition comprising a lubricating oil thickened with a gelling agent wherein the lubricating oil is prepared by intimately admixing a synthetic halogen containing polymeric lubricating oil and a fluorocarbon resin, freezing the mixture and thawing the frozen product.
Abstract:
DEUTERATED SATURATED ACYCLIC AND CYCLIC HYDROCARBONS HAVING AT LEAST 10 CARBON ATOMS, A MELTING POINT NO GREATER THAN 300*C. AND AN ISOTOPIC PURITY OF AT LEAST 95 ATOM PERCENT D ARE DESCRIBED. DEUTRATION OF THE SUBSTRATE IN ITS LIQUID STATE IS EFFECTED WITH DEUTERIUM GAS IN THE PRESENCE OF A GROUP VII OR VIII METAL CATALYST AT A TEMPERATURE BETWEEN ABOUT 100-300*C.
Abstract:
WATER INSOLUBLE ARGANIC COMPOUNDS WHICH LIBERATE GASEOUS NITROGEN AT HIGH TEMPERATURES AND HAVE AT LEAST ONE N-N SINGLE OR DOUBLE BOND IN EACH MOLECULE ARE ADDED TO LUBRICANTS TO IMPROVE LUBRICITY AND DECREASE CORROSION WHILE REMAINING READILY REMOVABLE FROM THE SURFACES TO WHICH THEY HAVE BEEN APPLIED.
Abstract:
MINOR AMOUNTS OF NITROPHEYL-SUBSTITUTED SILOXANES ARE ADDED TO FLUOROSILICONE LUBRICANTS TO IMPROVE THE STEEL ON BRASS AND STEEL ON ALUMINUM ANTIWEAR CHARACTERISTICS.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a low water-sensitive hydraulic fluid composition which contains from about 20 to about 96 percent by weight of at least one borate ester as the base fluid and additionally, from about 2 to about 40 percent of a bis (glycol ether) formal. Such low water-sensitive hydraulic fluids are high boiling compositions which also have desirable properties at low temperatures, particularly viscosity, and thus are useful under a wide variety of climatic and operational conditions.
Abstract:
Low water-sensitive hydraulic fluid compositions which contain at least one borate ester as the base fluid and from about 0.1 to about 8 percent by weight of monoethanolamine as an alkaline buffering agent. Such low water-sensitive hydraulic fluids are high boiling and have a low rate of corrosivity.
Abstract:
MINOR AMOUNTS OF 2-NITROMESITYLENE ARE ADDED TO FLUOROSILICONE LUBRICANTS TO IMPROVE THE STEEL ON BRASS AND STEEL ON ALUMINUM ANTI-WEAR CHARACTERISTCS.
Abstract:
MIXTURES OF DIHALOGENOETHYL-SUBSTITUTED ORGANOSILICON COMPOSITIONS HAVE BEEN PREPARED BY ADDING EITHER IBR OR ICI TO VINYL-SUBSTITUTED SILANES AND SILOXANES. LUBRICATING COMPOSITIONS OF EXTREME PRESSURE AND HIGH TEMPERATURE CHARACTERISTICS ARE PREPARED BY ADDING THE MIXTURES TO OILS OF LUBRICATING VISCOSITY. THE LUBRICATING COMPOSITIONS ARE ESPECIALLY USEFUL FOR LUBRICATING HIGH TEMPERATURE ALLOYS.
