Abstract:
An image reading device includes a shooting unit, a light source unit, a shooting controller, and a combining unit. The light source unit sequentially irradiates the bound document with light from first and second irradiation positions opposing each other with respect to a first straight line orthogonal to a direction of a binding portion of the document. The shooting controller controls the shooting unit to shoot a first region positioned at the second irradiation position side on the document when the light source unit irradiates the document with light from the first irradiation position, and controls the shooting unit to shoot a second region containing a region other than the first region on the document when the light source unit irradiates the document with light from the second irradiation position. The combining unit combines a shot image of the first region and a shot image of the second region.
Abstract:
A scanner is disclosed. The scanner has a scan sensor with a width smaller than the width of the platen. The scanner scans a first pass of the platen with the scan sensor in a first position on one side of the platen. The scanner then moves the scan sensor to the other side of the platen and does a second pass.
Abstract:
An optical reading device, a control method for an optical reading device, and a program for directing execution of the method each enables efficient and quick transmission of digital image data obtained from reading a document to a host computer or other control device. A dot impact printer having an optical reading device that optically reads documents and stores the resulting digitized image data, sets target reading areas, and transmits digital image data stored in a scan buffer rendered in a RAM to the host computer. When multiple target areas are set, the transmission order of the target areas is determined according to specific conditions, and the target areas are transmitted according to this transmission sequence.
Abstract:
A method for forming an image includes providing a media support adapted to receive media; providing a recording head comprising a plurality of recording channels, wherein each recording channel is adapted to form an image pixel column while scanning over the media; providing an image data file comprising one or more arrangements of image data columns; assigning first image data from a single image data column to a first recording channel of the recording head; operating the first recording channel to form a first image pixel column solely in accordance with the assigned first image data; assigning second image data from each image data column of a plurality of the image data columns to a second recording channel of the recording head; operating the second recording channel to form a second image pixel column in accordance with the assigned second image data; and operating the recording head to form the image.
Abstract:
A method for forming an image includes providing a media support comprising a cylindrical surface adapted to receive media; providing a recording head adapted to scan over the media; providing image data representative of the image; operating the recording head to form a first portion of the image in accordance with a first portion of the image data while helically scanning over the media; and operating the recording head to form a second portion of the image in accordance with a second portion of the image data while circularly scanning over the media.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus executes stop processing to stop scanning of the carriage during the scan operation, acquires information on the stop processing executed by the control unit, corrects a restart position of the carriage for a document image reading after the stop processing based on the information acquired.

Abstract:
The present invention discloses a shared image scanning method and picture scanner thereof. The method includes the steps of: sharing a desired scanning document into image areas; constructing images captured from each image area into a whole document sensing image to be used by the scanner. The scanner includes reflecting mirrors, light source modules and image sensing modules in a frame. The reflecting mirrors are installed in the frame with an interval apart from each other and corresponding to the image areas. The light source modules project lights onto the image areas to produce document images which are captured by the corresponding image sensing module and converted into image signals, and processed by an image processing unit to produce a whole document sensing image signal. Thus, the scanner applying the shared image method of the present invention can complete a document scanning quickly.

Abstract:
An image data generating device for generating image data pertaining to a target includes a transparent plate, a light radiation unit, a plurality of digital camera units, which are provided on a side close to a second surface of the transparent plate, and which are offset from each other and overlap the transparent plate as viewed from a direction perpendicular to a plane in which the transparent plate extends, and a photography data composition unit. The light radiated by the light radiation unit and reflected from the target directly enters the plurality of digital camera units, each of the digital camera units generating photography data pertaining to the target. The photography data composition unit combines a plural sets of photography data generated by the plurality of digital camera units and generates image data pertaining to the target. Two adjacent digital camera units generate partially-overlapping photography data.
